Looks like Coach Stollings has no problems with letting people know that her partner is a woman. Good for her.
Now it's up to the university to not try to hide it by leaving it out of her bio.

How things change - remember when Sheryl Swoopes left Texas, where she first signed? 1990 or so? She claimed that one of the reasons she went back to the Panhandle was because there were too many gay and alternative life styles on the team and in Austin. Winning cures everything, I'll bet.

OMG... I was thinking this exact same thing! Of course, there were no alternative lifestyles in Lubbock back THEN... :rolleyes1::smokin:

Swoopes did attend South Plains College in Levelland, Texas for two years before she could transfer to nearby Tech. Never read anything about that period in her life. :confused2:

The Sheryl Swoopes saga has been well-documented over the years. Having said that, she was one of my all-time faves in spite of all the drama that has surrounded her life.

I loved to watch her play, but Sheryl takes cray cray to a whole other level. Making those insinuations back in the day considering her own proclivities was pretty sad. Typical of a self-hater though....couldn't accept herself or deal with her own issues so casts stones at others. Considering the times, and where she was from, perhaps it was all a bit understandable. Whatever the case she get's married and has a child in the mid 90's, then in 2005 announces to the world she is gay and in love with her partner and former teammate, and they end up raising her son together. Then last year she marries a man. And has also made some unfortunate comments over the years on a variety of fronts. Gotta love yourself before you can find love with someone else!

Tech is going to need help immediately to field a team.

Doesn't look as though Shimmy Gray Miller or Sheryl Swoopes have been retained as coaches.

Shimmy would be an excellent hire as an assistant coach. Her and Coach Aston also have a good relationship.

Agree. I think she would be a great hire.

Not a surprise but official now, Nikita Lowry Dawkins going with Stollings from Minnesota as Associate Head Coach.

You may be right - but I specifically mentioned the job not the city.

“I think WVU is a better job compared to Tech in that they aren’t fishing from the same pond as other Big 12 powers.”

Why does a WCBB team need a "chief of staff"?

Because the head coach needs Texas connections.

There's a lot of good guards amongst the JC crowd. If you could get the top 10 players to all go to one place you'd have a fairly decent competitive team. Problem is there's very few posts among them that are quick enough to play the next level.
