PG Endyia Rogers has started off strong for DFW Elite at the Boo Williams tourney. Endyia has had visits from Mississippi State,Tennessee, Kansas, Kentucky, San Diego State and Wichita State. I had not heard of her until AAU season. I'll be curious if more coaches start showing interest in her due to her AAU numbers.

Nothing in early March out on twitter that our coaches visited Endiya, but I did list one of her tweets back on page 13 of this thread about the schools she was considering.

Another strong performance by Endyia Rogers. When given the opportunity to play with other elite players, some kids elevate their game and maximize their potential.

Jordan Horston says four of her official visits will be to North Carolina, Tennessee, Louisville and UCLA. She's not yet sure about the other visit.

Quick take on 2019 class from this weekend

Sammy Brunelle- all though she played well in gold bracket championship game where she scored 19 she had a rough weekend. Game seemed to physical for her, every shot was contested which contributed to her poor shooting. She couldn’t penetrate, had a difficult time when she put the ball on the floor. I’ve seen enough of her to say she is still one of the best in her class

Haley Jones- she had a great weekend her stock is way up as if it could still go up. She fills up the stat sheet. Does it all and a great leader. I was a fan before even a bigger one now.

Celeste Taylor- she had a great showing which you would think would be hard to do on a stacked team like the Belles but she stood out. She had an all around good weekend . I will go on record as saying she is the best on ball defender in the country as she gave any player she defended fits not saying nobody scored on her but every point scored was hard earned She can score as I mentioned before but what she improved on is her passing especially entry into the post. She has the potential to be very special when she arrives to Austin

I propose that we native(or otherwise) Texans that love us some Longhorns.......unofficially (or officially if someone wants to sacrifice their soul and be our lawyer)........adopt Oakman. We need his long-term insights from the frozen tundra north of the Red River. And me thinks he might have some burnt orange DNA hidden...... but daring to get out. Thoughts?

I second your proposal. Maybe Oakman will visit Austin when Celeste arrives on campus. I'll buy him his first Shiner Bock at Scholtz's for his official Longhorn induction. If he doesn't drink then it will have to be a Dr. Pepper with nachos.

Hahaha!!!! You guys just had me spit out my coffee in laughter. I so appreciate the love on this board I’ll tell you way better than others I contribute to. As far as visiting Austin it would be nice definitely on my bucket list I wouldn’t mind watching a game. I don’t think Celeste parents would want an old geezer like myself following them around but I will say I almost introduced myself to them this weekend but chickened out. I do in fact adult beverages and may take you up on the offer but I don’t see myself leaving the frozen thundra of Philadelphia.

Dog.....I don’t think Oakman understands the significance of your offer of a Shiner Bock at Scholtz’s and the impact it could have on his “want-to”. Or maybe he does and is anxious about potentially “wanting to” leave Philly? I would offer to send him a six-pack as appreciation of his scouting reports; however, that might be against some law. Plus he would miss the experience of Scholtz’s. As an alternate, maybe somebody take a pic of that experience and post so Oakman can understand and reconsider? We can’t afford to lose his scouting reports.

While nothing is absolute, if Jordan Horston has already decided on 3 schools (UNC, Tennessee, and Louisville) for official visits, then one of those schools will most likely sign her. I believe she also made unofficial visits to those 3 schools already.

Jordan's mom said she will also visit UCLA. I'm going to guess that the 5th visit will be Ohio State (although she may have had unofficial visits to her home state school such that she'll save the last visit for another OOS school).

UCLA's coaching staff has been doing such a great job the last few years in getting players from all across the country to visit their campus officially or unofficially. I don't think their hit rate has been all that great in signing those kids from halfway across the country or further, but all it takes is one or two elite signees to get the ball rolling.

Yep, I think it's just a matter of time before Cori Close gets a key recruit. Even though I was disappointed UCLA beat Texas, I thought the UCLA brand was enhanced in the tournament. Jordan Canada and Monique Billings were very personable and were great representatives for UCLA. Canada's heroics in our game and in their loss to Miss State with an injured arm made a statement. Prior to the tourney, I hadn't seen any interviews with Cori Close. She came across as a very likable person and good coach.

With that said, Texas and UCLA fish from the same pond of recruits so my enthusiasm for them is limited to situations where it does not effect Texas.

Was thinking that a Monday (non-holiday) is such an odd day for a California kid to be making an unofficial visit to UConn. Then I remembered that GEYBL concluded yesterday, so her club team must have been somewhere on the East coast already.

Endyia Rogers may be underrated like Joanne Taylor and Audrey Warren were possibly underrated. Time will tell.

Although I've only followed recruiting for a few years, it seems like there is rarely any significant movement in the Top 25-50 spots. If a kid is a late bloomer, it's an uphill climb to get on the ranking lists. College coaches really need good scouts to uncover the hidden gems.

Quite possible for a player to slip through the rankings if they are not seen.

That's where the coaches' contacts come in. And it looks like ours have some outstanding contacts.

I guess with Rogers, the question will be which 2019 PG the coaches feel fits in better with the team they are putting together.

Updates from what I am hearing:

Ashten Prechtel- has Texas in her top 3
Jaden Owens- has Texas in her top 3
Zia Cooke- has Texas in her top 3 but waiting to see who else commits there
Rikea Jackson- leaning towards Texas has them in top 3

Haley Jones- heavily leaning towards UConn

Jordon Horston- Texas NOT in her top 3 leaning towards Ohio State

That's a fairly encouraging update. Zia and Rickea haven't yet visited Texas (to my knowledge). IMO, Texas chances get stronger during a visit.

Did Rickea Jackson participate in last weekend's tourney? I didn't find any tidbits about her.

    Thanks for sharing....

Rikea didn’t play at the Boo Williams, she left her crossover team to join sports city which is a non eybl team. She is teammates with Cooke on a great team, they lost championship down in Louisville at the buzzer. I hear that they both plan on visits

Is Zia waiting to see if another PG commits or is it a matter of who would be part of the class (Rickea)?

I can't find the post but someone (@LutherIsMyDog ?) mentioned the disparity in rankings between ESPN and ProspectsNation at the top of the 2019 class and, while there is usually a bit, a couple of Longhorn commit/targets really stood out to me.
    Zia - #7 ESPN, #49 ProspectsNation
    Celeste - #14 ESPN, #46 ProspectsNation
    Ashten - #25 ESPN, #90 ProspectsNation

I know rankings are not a guarantee of future success but seeing this type of disconnect is rather odd - unless it's just the first time I've noticed because it involves Texas targets.
