If Texas can win the series with TCU and finish no worse than second in Big XII and win Big XII tourny then I think they still have a shot at hosting a regional. Assuming they take 3 of last 4 and win 4 games in tourny that is 40 wins on year and with schedule Texas played is a strong resume for one of last two or three regionals.
I think they can host a regional so long as they win 3 of 4 and don't lose their first game in the conf tourney. I don't think they have to win it.
Why is Texas Tech still getting so much love in that bracket? They played a bunch of nobodies non-conference (except maybe Kentucky, whom they went 1-2 against), and are currently in 4th place in the Big 12.

That would be the worse draw that Texas could get. Texas already lost once this season to those guys and losing a first round series to them would be aggy food for two or three seasons.
I don’t know why some here want to avoid Aggy. I like our chances at DFF. If you’ll recall, we basically choked in that game at Olsen (like many other games). We lost 6-5, had 12 hits vs 9, 13 LOB & pitchers gave up 6 BB. Our relief pitching failed us again. Another game we gave away. I say bring on the sheep mysogonists!!
Texas gains nothing by playing aggy in any sport. Texas wins - they should do no big deal. aggy wins - proves superiority of the aggy program. They walked away so screw them.
You are right we gave the game away, but it was the starting pitching that was at fault. Niko gave up 4 runs in the 1st and only went 1/3 inning before being pulled. Bullpen was very good against the ags.
And to have Sam Houston in the bracket as well. Haven't we already beaten them twice this year? And they aren't a pushover either.
