Jake grounder to 2nd, but slow enough dribbler to avoid double play.

    Horns at corners, 2 outs.

Hibbler starts out 3-0, then 3-1, then flies to deep right.

    Top of 9th. Gators 6-1.

I cannot stand talking heads who just say anything whether it is accurate or has relevance. One of these clowns just showed the history of the two programs and then said Florida was the team of this century. Florida has one championship in this century and Texas, South Carolina and Oregon State have two championships. They prove their ignorance each time they open their mouth.

Not only that, starting year 2001 (start of this century, so that disqualifies LSU from this comparison, they won one in 2000 and in 2009), Texas, Florida, and South Carolina have made Omaha each 8 times.

Texas won twice; finished 2nd twice.
South Carolina won twice; finished 2nd twice.
Florida won once; finished 2nd twice (this year still out).

Who did Florida finish 2nd to in the College World Series in this century?

    Uh, Texas and South Carolina.

Oh, South Carolina also finished 2nd to Texas.

So, all three of Texas, Florida, and South Carolina have 8 Omaha appearances this century.

The best Florida can do this year is equal Texas' and So.Carolina's championships.

But Texas is the only of the three to win over the other two in the championship series.

P.S., with apologies to oversight of the Beavers, with 6 Omaha appearances this century, with back to back titles (hard to do, Florida can still do that this year of course), but no 2nd places, but OSU is still in the hunt this year. Sorry, Beavs.

Well, dang, I wanted to win at least one game. I hate being 2 and a bbq. Coach Gus was right, our offense was not good enough against this level of pitching. We needed our pitching to be lock-down to take up the slack, and they were not able to do that. Overall, we hit about .050 under our season average in the SR and CWS. We got by TTU with really good pitching, but that deserted us in Omaha. Our pitching has been up and down all year so it's not that big of a surprise, I guess.

I am still bullish on Coach Pierce, we just gotta find some pitchers we can trust with the ball. None of our guys were "aces" to where you knew for sure what you would get out of them game-to-game. Too, Coach Pierce upgraded our offense from last year, but we still need more help there against elite pitching.

The team exceeded my expectations this year, but ran into a buzz saw today. Jackson Kowar is a first round draft pick (Royals) and he was just on. In his interview, Roger Clemens said Kowar had one of the best change-ups he'd ever seen in a college pitcher. I'm more disappointed by the Arkansas game, where we witnessed an uncharacteristic, game-changing error, and a bullpen that inexplicably forgot how to throw strikes.

This team overachieved, disappointing day and disappointing trip to Omaha but this team wasn’t even supposed to be here and they were. I am excited about where Pierce has this program headed.:hookem:

We resorted to our play from early in the season where we often loss games due to one big inning.

    FW,

Can you create a thread about baseball recruits, who signed MLB, and who is still coming? I think I have read that we have lost two pitchers - flame thrower from Fort Bend County and one other, maybe the kid from Cy Ranch.

    Thanks :hookem2:

    Sabre,

Check out the MLB draft thread for some of that.

About the only positive from today's game is at least we didn't get shut out. And that's given the fact today's ump had about the fairest strike zone we've had since the playoffs started.

Not complaining though, fantastic accomplishment just to make it to Omaha. The future is bright.

proud of the Horns, they way overachieved with the lack of consistent pitching and a mostly punch and judy offense. This should help Pierce get some bats and arms down Austin way. Noticed Miss St had a guy from Cypress on their team and they/he hit the ball well......these guys need to go here not Starkville!

Congrats to making it to the CWS. Wasn't expecting it after watching them earlier in the season so this turned out to be a great year. They turned it on to get there, just wasn't meant to be to win it all this year. Now hoping Tech can get it done.
