Colt had a good first half 13-18 189 yds 2 TDs no interceptions. I personally think he is ready to start but for some reason Gruden doesn't want him as his starter since they acquired Smith in the off season.
They are paying Colt $7million this season so that screams the coaching staff is not totally sold on Smith.
Yea, I'll take $7million a year to carry a clip board (iPad). Colt may or may not start one day, but he has played his football career very intelligently.
The morning after last nights flurry of preseason games shows ESPN top two stories are about kneeling players. I'm trying to understand but I'm getting to the point where the politicized nature of the league is going to completely turn me off.
Why don't we just play the anthem off air. The people at the game can stand, cover their hearts and so forth. As a football addict that watches every college game I can and most NFL games, do I really need to hear the anthem 10+ times a week? Are we all jumping off our sofas every time it is played before every game we watch? Just start the broadcast of the game after the anthem has played.
The last regular season MLB game I watched was in the 90's before that last strike. As a 20 something year old making about $4.50/hr I couldn't understand why one of my favorite games was not being played because of a fight between millionaires and billionaires all whining about needing more money. I don't think I made a conscious decision not to watch games, I just lost interest other than playoff time which I watch. I read updates and follow stats, but that's just about it. The Astros almost got me to watch my first regular season games, but I haven't done that yet because I always seem to have something better to do. I stopped watching the NBA after Shaq made the comment about we make a lot of money but we spend a lot too during the last NBA money fight. Again, not really making a conscious decision, but I was not excited or even a little interested in watching so it was not important to me anymore. I watch some playoffs but usually just the championship series. Now here we are with the NFL crap going on I realized that entertainers making political statements and billionaires having no idea how to deal with it just doesn't agree with me....I don't ever watch movie/TV awards shows anymore either. Combine that with Jerry Jones absolutely putting crap on the field in Dallas every year and I just lost interest. Until the playoffs started last year I didn't realize that I did not watch a single regular season NFL game for the first time since I was a kid in the mid 1970's. And this is why college ball excites me. I just hope they don't start these shenanigans because I might just end up going camping much more often.
Quite honestly, I see much in common with Colt as when Jason Garrett was the backup for Dallas...wasn't going to be seeing many snaps but was being paid to be groomed as future coaching material, but you ALSO knew he wasn't apt to give the game away in those instances where he was put on the field due to injury to the starter. Competent back-ups do seem to command decent salaries in the present era...
And no Dez anywhere... Is there anything more painfully obvious during the off-season and preseason than Dez's overinflated ego, pride and self-evaluation being his continual downfall? It has a death grip on him and won't relent. Just keep telling yourself...and anyone else that will listen...that you don't regret passing on Baltimore's 3yr/21milly deal. Should have been viewed as a dream gig for him under the circumstances. ...Feel sorry for the guy if he is that ______.
Actually, they are only paying him about half that this season, which is about the same as he made last season before Smith was even a gleam in his coach's eyes. Link
Dickson's second game totals: 5 punts 268 yds 53.6 yd avg 2 inside 20 long 61 yds He was the only one who punted.
