I had forgotten about the Ron Paul Dem love fest.
It seems especially lately that Dem operate more on feelings than facts. That usually does not end well.
The insidious personal attacks on Conservatives is amazing. They have no shame or fear of reprisal no matter how insulting the remarks.
Look at Alcee Hastings sick joke about Trump drowning. and that is just one of too many.

Someone on here mentioned how quickly hard core Liberals will cut off friends (even long-time friends) over politics. My mother has been blocked on Facebook by one cousin and the the wife of another (her husband is my cousin and he does not do Facebook) because she is an old school Republican and they are the most aggressive Trump haters around. They are the absolute epitome of the hatred from the Left. My mother helped raise these two boys and was there for them when they came over from Cuba (their mother was my Cuban Dad's sister) in the early 60's. Now they are willing to insult her and finally blocked her. I haven't said anything to them but they both make me sick. The wife of the cousin who's not on FB has been a thorn in my side for over 35 years. I never liked her and her manner is so predictable. A few years ago she got into a political argument with my Dad on his 80th birthday and later grabbed me and tried to complain about him to me and I just said, "He's 80 years old. I'm his son. This is his birthday. I'm not interested in this problem." We never spoke again over the next two days.

My other Trump hating, grandmother blocking cousin has never mentioned his three children on Facebook. There is some big mystery as to his estrangement from them. They are all grown-up (my cousin in probably 66 years old). So he has a very sad situation as he is apparently cut off from them. But he is the most arrogant jerk imaginable.

Both of them have world-class hang-ups. I'm not saying that's the profile of the typical vile Trump hater willing to cut off ANYBODY over politics but in my world, the anecdotal evidence is overwhelming.

Yes, this white boy is allowed to culturally appropriate a nickname to make himself sound Hispanic, and is only allowed to do this because he's a full bore leftist. Should any Anglo Republican change his name from Joseph to Jose just to run for office, he would be hounded out of the race within weeks.

Well your world might be more crowded with haters but it is shocking to me how ugly and vile the ones I know are willing to get in what should be casual conversations.
I have never and will never engage anyone in a political conversation except at political meetings.
People who know I have long supported Cruz come up to me at parties and start in on how much they hate him. But can never explain why.
This level of ugliness is stunning.
I marvel that the haters don't seem to mind record great econmic news or understand how it came about. Hint. NOT from high taxes or onerous regulation.

Don't let your relatives get to you. That hate and vitriol is not goof for them.

Yes, there are Hispanics who will vote for him based on his name. Lots of them. It's not racist to say that. It's just the truth. Hispanic voters have shown that in election after election. It's a byproduct of identity politics. I guarantee you that in a black district a candidate named DeShawn or Shaquita is going to be at a massive advantage over a Cody or Abigail in a Democratic primary.

We know many of them voted for the guy in the link below even though he couldn't answer key questions in his debate against Gramm. It goes back to what I'm saying. They just want a guy who will follow orders from the DNC. If he looks like them then all the better. That's also the short answer to people when folks on the Left can't understand a Republican supporting Trump. To me, it's the height of naivety to think Conservatives would vote in Liberals Supreme Court justices and vice versa. That's why a collusion or treason accusation must be found or proven. But the hysteria surrounding the accusations are so ridiculous at times that people on the right won't believe half of it anyway.

Well if Hispanics vote for a name then Cruz has it sewed up.
Which is more "hispanic " sounding
    Beto O'Rourke
    or Ted Cruz?

I think it helps him some, but it helps Beto more because identity politics is more influential with liberal voters. They're more likely to turn out because O'Rourke goes by Beto. If he called himself Robert or Bobby, this wouldn't be a close race.

Do you remember when Ted Cruz caught at least a small measure of crap from lefties for using the name "Ted" to try to sound more white?

Oh yes and it is still going on
Never mind that Ted is a common nickname for people named Edward.Libs hate it when you mention Ted Kennedy.

Since Ted's Father is named and goes by Rafael using a form of Ted's middle is logical.
I go by a form of my middle name. I guess people could say I am trying to be someone else.

If you live in a densely Hispanic area and you are an Anglo you get a nickname. I’ve been Chuy and Gordo and Osito. And if you are in politics it helps.

Ted Cruz is known as Pendejo and I don’t understand why he doesn’t use it

O'Rourke apparently plotted the appropriation since birth...or at least 2.

I'm not sure this is that smart of a move. Riding a skateboard might be "cool" (or "kewl") to some, and of coursec the media will frame it as such. However, it comes across as juvenile to most. How many mature, adult men ride skateboards? Not many.

Those millennial voters are eating it up.
    I think it looks asinine.

Of course millennials are supposed to be adults now, but it's probably tough for folks who still live with their parents and play video games to see the immaturity of riding a skateboard even in they're in their 30s.

Riding a skate board is cool at any age. But being a socialist is tyranny at any age.

Beto is a smart guy who skated through life who wants to open the borders, take your guns, and tax you silly because that is the cool thing to do.

It's cool when you're in 9th grade, because you can attract the attention of girls going through the "death-goth-Jimmy Hendrix" phase. But that only lasts a couple of years. By the time you're 20, the coolness has worn off.

    This is true.

I readily admit that I shouldn't judge those guys. Most of us (myself included) had to develop a rap and work whatever angles we could.
