And of course Logan would’ve been in this class but she reclassified to 2018 which is huge. Both will be top 10 senior aces from PrepVolleyball. Logan would’ve been too.

Molly didn't get Top 10, 11-20 was released yesterday and she was ranked #16. Top 10 is to be released today and Fields will be in it.

What about Cabello and Losia on that AFLAC 3rd team list? Aren't they Texas commits? And did we miss out on Georgia Murphy or just not recruit her?

The last Molly turned out all right, I'll happily take another.

Cabello and Losia are 2020 commits to Texas and Georgia Murphy committed to Oregon.

Most talk is that Molly was ranked waaaaay too low. She got lots of praise for her time this summer with her club and with Team USA.

    It's Iosia.

We're also in the mix for Kami Miner (2021 - 3rd Team).

Skylar’s team has made it to state! Beat defending state finalist (or champ?) Seven Lakes which has Nebraska commit Ally Batenhorst.

I got to watch Molly Phillips play two summer ago when she was still just 6'3/6'4 and she's an incredibly athletic MB, especially for her height. Imagine if Molly McCage had been 2 inches taller.....between her and Skylar potentially on the right side, that block is going to be GREAT in the future....

It's posted on the Volleytalk Texas recruiting thread--via an announcement on her Instagram account. Nothing official from the school.

Welcome Melanie! She sure looks like she needs some spend some time on the weight room though, and some trips to Golden Corral.

If you click on the link to the article it translates to:
For those of us who last took Spanish II in 1980(!), the Google translation is:

With 16 years of age, Sinaloa volleyball player Melanie Parra will play with the team of the University of Texas, with the mission of improving her competitive level.

Parra was part of the national women's volleyball team at the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla in 2018, as well as being in the World Cup in Japan, where she lived pleasant experiences for her learning.

The attacking receiver is one of the players with projection for Mexican volleyball ahead of next year's international events, although the country will not attend the most important one: the selective one to the Pan American Games Lima 2019.

The national monarch in 2017 with Tigres de la UANL said that having had international experience makes her have a different vision for next year's games.

Parra hopes to follow in the footsteps of the already international Andrea Rangel and Samantha Bricio, who are active abroad and have been important players in the national team.

I would bet you are correct UTex!

Not sure where this picture was made but This was posted Dec 10, 2018 and translates to:
    WE'RE GOING TO TEXAS
For her excellent performance at the 2018 World Cup in Japan and JCC Barranquilla 2018, Melanie Parra will be part of @TexasVolleyball that is also in the Top 5 of the NCAA ranking.
Another Mexican who will triumph in American volleyball.

Not specifically recruiting but would like opinion(s) of who replaces Johnson at one MB next year. Asja O'Neal redshirted but is a relatively short MB at 6'1"(on roster at 6'3" but may be too much?). O'Neal skipped her senior year of volleyball at Southlake Carroll so it has been some time since she played competitively. Molly Phillips is mentioned as 6'-4". Is it possible that O'Neal moves to OH with Yazzie graduated? Or are both exclusively MB candidates? Anybody who has actually seen O'Neal and/or Phillips play to offer an opinion which one will win out?

It’s probably that either Fields or Eggleston take over Yazzie’s spot. Butler could (she mentioned being a pin hitter before) but that would leave two freshmen as our MBs and then mean that Fields redshirts.

It all depends on what happens with the setter. A 6-2 is possible and next year we have the personnel to do it (if Ashley doesn’t win the starting role back and we get a transfer setter in with Jhenna). Our current OHs are good enough to play all the way around which would free up our subs for the 6-2.

    S - Gabriel
    S - Shook (or Transfer)
    OH - White
    OH - Eggleston (or Fields)
    RS - Fields (or Eggleston)
    RS - Butler (or Phillips)
    MB - Butler (or Phillips)
    MB - O’Neal
    L - Petersen
    DS (for RS) - Rounsaville
DS (for RS or OH if Fields) - Hahn

That’s a lot of moving parts. The way you list, the players at the big positions appear to have lots of flexibility to play other positions. And other than White, still a very young team. Lots of decisions by players and coaches to settle on the team. Setter will be the most crucial. Thanks

    Agreed.

If we stick with a 5-1*, then I'd say Phillips redshirts for sure, Butler sticks with MB, and Agbaji is the definite backup. You could still swap Eggleston and Fields around.

*JE has always liked a 6-2. He hasn't totally had the personnel for it though. Then, he started recruiting tall setters so it seemed like he had given it up. So we'll see.

Agbaji came in and took reps at OH/RS a few times the second half of the season, do you think there's a viable possibility to move her to RS? I've never been all that impressed with her in her action at MB, but thought she had a few great hits on the pins.

I think Molly Phillips is too good to redshirt, whether she be inserted at MB or RS. I haven't been able to see O'Neal play, so I have no idea of the readiness or skill level there.

I would love to see how a 6/2 would work, particularly if we get a transfer setter in. We definitely have the roster to support it hitting-wise. Exciting stuff!
