I believe story lines of game could be:
TCU pass rush good or bad and how we handle
Our running game (see previous post)
    Play of our safeties
Ability of our linebackers to exhibit necessary speed *major*
    Getting our receivers open early
Their punter, yes, their punter. Has dropped two snaps in last two weeks. Balls could be slick this week boys. I'm setting over/under on bobbled snap at 1
Defense setting tone early ...as opposed to not early

    This.
This is not a team to get down two scores on early.

I'm starting to think this is going to be a very low scoring game, much like the Okie lite game was last year. First team to 17 wins the game.
They have really scary RB and WR but their QB is the suck, the key for Texas is long drives that eat clock and produce points, even if they are field goals. This might be the game where the Texas kicker wins it for us.

This is probably too simplistic but I think the entire defensive scheme this week should be about stopping their run game (they had ~6 ypc vs tOSU). Sell out to force their QB to throw (he tosses it up). If Orlando can get this done, we win.

I really wish we had Sonny Cumbie.
Watching the first half of the TCU - tOSU game really brought into sharp relief how poorly coached our offense is.
The quick passes are quick. The plays don't seem complex but they work off of each other. Reads are decisive. The players, in general, seem to understand their assignments and execute them crisply. The WRs block! Ball carriers get the ball in space! The OL may or may not be any better than ours but they don't have to hold their blocks for 5 + seconds every play and the ball carriers get the ball and hit holes quickly before they close.

Its almost like they practice at it or something.

Our offense, even in a winning effort against USC, doesn't resemble any of that right now. I am not looking forward to seeing what Petterson's defense does to this offense.

^^^This. Patterson has outcoached our OC each game. Patterson's defense, especially his blitz packages, have confused our OC and QB. We have been unable to adjust during the games, and his Defensive scheme has been a step ahead of our OC each time.
History is not always the best predictor of the future. However, I've got to see some evidence before I have confidence that Herman/Beck can beat Patterson. I'm hoping this year starts a new trend and we beat Patterson.

According to the Football Brainiacs, he will play this weekend
Ingram will play too -- his pain tolerance will determine how many plays
Also, Overshown will be back for Kstate

Until proven otherwise Texas should be dogs to the frogs.
Patterson v. Herman -- advantage frogs
Patterson/his DC v. Beck -- no freaking contest. Huge advantage frogs. Patterson and his DC dial up a package of blitzes that even a good o-line like tosu has trouble with. If we insist on running our slow motion hand-offs in the backfield look for many negative plays. Not sure we have the line to wear them down, but I would run Young right at them on quick hitters and let him make out like he did on that Tulsa db.
Cumbie v. Orlando -- pretty close to a draw. We will make some plays and they will make some plays.
Biggest concern is Ehrlinger is not accurate in most of his throws and the frogs have fast and good db's and safeties. I would not be surprised if he has three picks in this game.
Punting. Never mind, just go full pirate and go for it on fourth down.

Hell, the person selling concessions in the upper deck could out-coach the OC most games...Little Susie selling Girl Scout cookies near the entrance of DKR could out-coach the OC most games. And for a WHOLE LOT less money than Beck or the binder.

    Herman said --

-- Ingram: “It was a bone bruise. The knee is stable. We’ve just got to figure out pain tolerance and if it starts becoming a hinderence, that’s where you’ve got to say enough is enough” ... "We’re going to see how sore it is tonight. Chances are good but I don’t want to say 100%”

-- Burt - “Like Keaontay. We’re going to see how he feels tonight and make a decision tomorrow.”

-- Hudson will see the doctor Monday for a “return to activity” plan.

-- Shackelford did not have any sort of procedure. “As of now, not counting on it”

-- Overshown - “Probably will start practicing next week.”

Temple is strong...they beat Tulsa by more than Texas did...and gave up fewer points in doing so while scoring more than Texas did.
