I have to wonder myself but all I can say is it's one of two things: 1) A plant that has been instructed to keep beating the feminist drum or 2) a young activist that has drank the kool-aid are actually believes they are changing the world.

I think we know why Feinstein wants the FBI report to remain confidential. They will then control the message. If these types of contradictions become part of the official record then it's not as clean for them; not that they care or need to care. My Liberal friends are ready to lynch Kavanaugh and block anyone who questions them.

I'm not sure a true investigation will solve a whole lot. Nobody was there. Saying "I believe her or she's a liar" is not evidence. Saying he drank a lot in college is not evidence. I think he panicked a bit and possibly downplayed some things that he shouldn't have. It's a mess. I think Feinstein should have picked the Republican she most trusts and revealed Ford's story at that time and said, "Do you want us to air this or what?" Waiting really muddied it up for me. I think the Republicans were blind-sided by all of this even if it's true.

I say if Kavanaugh is not confirmed, Trump should throw Condoleeza Rice at them. See how they like that.

I said this before but the D's (particularly Feinstein) played politics with this information to ensure maximum impact to the timeline.

Like you, I'm not convinced that an investigation will uncover new information. Clearly no physical evidence will exist but it could uncover untruths from participants that would be consequential.

The National Council of Churches has now called for Kavanaugh's nomination withdrawal. Don't try going to their website...too much traffic.

We already know there are untruths with Ford's story/ time line changing and even in her sworn testimony. She contradicted her own story
Dems will try to say BK had untruths too. Keep in mind Ford is the accuser who is ruining a man and his family's lives. There is no equivalency to him down playing beach parties with the accuser 's untruths.

I'd have to read a transcript of his testimony to say for sure, I Iead the letter, and I'm failing to see the inconsistencies. He didn't deny that he drank or that he sometimes drank too much. He denied that he blacked out.

That is correct. I watched most of his testimony. At no point did he deny drinking or even drinking too much, he just said he didn't black-out and downplayed getting belligerent. To be fair, he did look a bit uncomfortable about some accusation about getting aggressive with a former friend/roommate. BFD! I can't imagine if I was put up to testify about stupid **** I did in HS / college. I heard one analyst liken the questioning to Joseph Welch's "Have you no sense of decency, sir?" moment. Good analogy I thought.

    The report is in!

White House got it last night (and issued a statement that they saw nothing to change their mind about Kavanaugh).

Senators get to see it today -- Repubs and Dems alternating each hour. Report will have to be viewed in a room for classified material. This is supposed to keep it from being leaked, but, fat chance.

McConnell will call for cloture vote today, procedural vote to end debate tomorrow, and a vote could come this weekend.

    Prediction Time --

Kavanaugh gets in (maybe with more votes than I originally predicted, which was 52-53)

    Rs hold Senate (as predicted)

House? It seems increasingly possible the Rs hold as sane peoples' distaste for the cruel personal destruction of Kavanaugh continues to build

I hope you're right Joe Fan, particularly about Rs holding Senaate and House. If they don't, it's going to get even crazier than the last two years.

Dems are poo-pooing the investigation. Big complaint, they didn't interview Ford. Why would you interview Ford again? She testified under oath for what seemed like days to me.

FBI interviewed at least 9 people, including 3 that Ford said where at the party. Also, they talked to Debbie Ramirez and Kavanaugh's buddy Mark Lodge.

I knew that the Dems calling for an FBI investigation as if it would be Gospel would be downplayed by them when it didn't bolster their case. If it did, they wouldn't care that she wasn't interviewed.

In short, it doesn't matter. They oppose Kavanaugh absolutely no matter what happens.

Nope. Figured they would beg for it, get it, complain about it, and demand more investigation and delay.

Trump pissed off Flake and Collins etc and they vote no, especially with the FBI not interviewing either Ford or Kavanaugh or the people Ford said she told in 2012 etc.

I hate to say it, but I don't think its gonna happen.

Yep. I also don't think the NY times and their "Trump is a tax cheat" story will have much effect on the midterms either.

Since the accuser did not name BK during her recovered memory session with her therapist
and since she refused to give the therapist notes to the committee there is no There there.

Did you notice what that story did not mention?
The very thing they were looking for, and more or less promised to find.
Suddenly is "Hey, look over there, an aggressive tax plan!"

it would seem like the FBI's role here was to address existing allegations, rather than to go find anyone else who might bring something new. That of course is what the Dems want, but it still flies in the face of senate procedures. If they wanted to dredge up 100 new allegations, they had plenty of time and opportunity to do that. They rolled the dice and gambled that they could use the current political environment, a rush of separate and lurid allegations in a very small time window, and the GOP would fold up its tent. It was a smart bet, since the GOP has shown no sign up until this point of having a spine.

It will be interesting if this is a "turning point" in American politics, in which the GOP no longer simply accepts rantings and ravings as "business as usual" and gives them undue attention. If the GOP actually starts acting like the grownup in the room, things could really get interesting.

Yes, just a one seat margin in the House and every single committee chairmanship flips. It is going to become subpoena city. That city gonna be hiring bike messengers if anyone is looking.

I think this might happen. If the young guard wants a purge, they can let this thing go, return home and explain how Feinstein bungled this, wasn't aggressive enough, didn't have a plan, wasn't ready for "war", underestimated how evil the GOP was. "She expected that they would play by the rules, but they didn't. It's time for new leadership."
