I wish they would have the scrimmage on a Saturday or Sunday where young kids, you know the ones still having to go to school at 3:00 could attend. A way to build up the fan base. Oh well, been that way always.

With it being held at Cooley, only limited seating is available. Since I assume that this fits in with the schedule they have set up for the team, (practice plus dinner) except in front of a bunch of fans, it works.
Of course, it helps if you are retired or can take time off from work. :smile1:

Agree. Wednesday at 3:00 does limit the turn out for those who work or go to school. However, Cooley Pavillion is a small facility for the scrimmage and potluck so there may be some strategy to keep the crowd small.

No disagreements in your logic about the size of Cooley. I just find that the marketing and development arms of both basketball and softball don't try harder with younger kids in order to build a future base of fans. Yes, WBB tried the fan ambassadors, but I haven't seen a growth in attendance in these years WBB has been good again. Gonna write Del Conte.

Del Conte has hinted at several game day improvements aimed at fans for basketball. Obviously nothing on the scale of the football pre-game event but no one should expect that - I only hope he was referring to both basketball teams.
By the way - did you ever get a response about the banners for WBB NPOY?

That is what has been most disappointing, along with the lack of student support.

Agree. I know the circumstances are different but I think they should look into and follow how South Carolina was able to do that.

I don't think this space would work well for young kids. There isn't much space between the players in the game and the audience. My wish is that there weren't so many early weekend games. I'd much rather sleep in and attend a late afternoon or night-time game.
