Was busy earlier and didn't have time to go through the thread. @Horns11 seems to be the only one who gave or cited a medical opinion with the caveat that his opinion was from someone who admittedly has not examined Ehlinger.
So, I stand by my comment above. Not everyone mentioned that. Only 1 poster besides me.

Edit: Apologies if this sounds snarky. Not my intention. :beertoast:

All I can tell you is I sprained my shoulder in wrestling, and never missed a meet. That was in high school, I did miss a few football games when I damaged my RC in the same shoulder. That injury sucked. I could hardly wipe my *** without major pain.

PH, make that “Board Certified, Google verified” orthopedic surgeons. In fact, the next time I hurt either knee — which will be the next time I carry my wife’s super heavy suitcase* down the stairs, I’m going to look up one of our compadres on this board.

*I’ve only told her to pack light about a thousand times. Perhaps, when I go in for my first knee replacement, the lightbulb might go on. But probably not.

I cannot imagine how much weight will be put in the suitcases the next time to teach you a lesson about sharing her "misunderstanding" of your requests if she sees your quote.

i mostly agree. It's a message board full of opinions, not true medical advice.

Sam is tougher than nails and tougher than steel. He's gonna have to lose both his arms and both his legs before he comes off the field.

There is a silver lining. She doesn’t read this board. Thank God.

True story, I broke my left wrist twice so I now have limited range of motion, I can't turn my palm up so I just ended up fisting myself. So no I can't use the dirty hand.

Aside from the physical considerations of Sam, if his progress in rehab takes him to the point Saturday of a coin flip whether he starts/plays, maybe other considerations.

No doubt, this team is coming together and they apparently support Sam. They also apparently support Shane, and looked to be stoked by the Baylor game in which his patience paid off, unfortunately by Sam's injury.

The Horns are at a level right now that most of us in pre-season would not have predicted as being this awesome. But the season is only half way done. A lot more games to play, more hard hits, more possibilities of an injury to a QB that takes him out for a play, week, or God forbid, season.

Texas has a great opportunity this Saturday w/r/t the QB position. This year's starter has proven himself. If he's 100% or nearso, he's the starter.

Shane started last year in a restart year, with an OL that has been analyzed ad nauseum regarding talent, depth, injuries, etc. And with the Baylor game has re-established that he also can start and win football games for UT.

The great opportunity Texas has is this: If Sam's not really, really, ready for Saturday, starting/playing Shane will solidify Texas' QB situation for the rest of this season. A 1A QB and a 1B QB, and with the 1B QB with current game work, not just practice waiting to go in.

This extra game now, against a should-be-a-win opponent, should give the entire team a bit of confidence down the stretch if, again, God forbid, Sam suffers another injury that takes him out of the game.

Shane would be ready without a doubt; no team hesitation on 1B going in.

If we can hold them to 17 like last year I don't care who plays QB, we're going to win. The OLine and Ingram make this game completely different from last year.
