Just to be clear, the National Guard didn't "apprehend" anyone. In both Operation Phalanx and Jump Start they surveilled the border and supported the US Border Patrol who apprehended illegal border crossers. This is the same activity that they are doing under Trump. The difference is that the previous POTUS didn't make as big a deal and purposely try to muddy the waters on the activity of the military. Listening to Trump, one could walk away with the idea that the military is apprehending illegals like the author of the site this was taken from.

 

No only someone who wanted to think Trump was saying our military would be apprehending illegals would try to say that.
Anyone without a hate Trump agenda who listens or reads knows better.

Stopping the Caravans is an important symbolic act, but the fact is that the country is being resettled, whether we like it or not, just as is Europe. It's the quiet surge of refugees that you don't hear about that are the biggest problem. The number of families jumping the border last month was 400% higher than October 2017.

It mystifies me why the Dems demand that this migrant wave be allowed to sweep over and change the country. Yes, the new voters will vote for the Dems, who'll promise them whatever they want. But, in the long run, your Pelosi/ Schumer/Hillary types will be booted out of power by the new immigrant Democrats, who'll replace them with their own.

The Ocasio Cortez of the world scoff at the old white Democrats who now control the party. They want radical change. Already, the Dems have been pushed so far left you can't see them anymore.

I think that the changes that are coming in my grand children's lifetimes will push this country to be something that would make the founding fathers ashamed enough to roll over in their graves.

 

Open borders only works if there is no welfare. And if the money stays in the country where it was earned. And if the migrants adhere to our standards of quality. And if we can sue them if they cause harm to others through their negligence. And if we can actually collect from them. And if they hold our values of gay rights and feminism dear... oh wait...

 

When the economy is strong, demand tends to be high for the kinds of jobs that illegal immigrants can most readily do. That's why illegal immigration spiked under Clinton and Bush and now Trump but didn't under Obama.

Two things to keep in mind. First, Pelosi, Schumer, and Hillary aren't like Ocasio-Cortez, but they are still part of the so-called "New Left," as opposed to the pro-welfare state liberals of the earlier era. Think George McGovern and Ron Dellums, not Harry Truman or even JFK. They're not fans of traditional American values or anything that we'd think is good about America - strong work ethic, Judeo-Christian values, free enterprise, strong military, etc.

Second, Pelosi and her folks will be dead or at least retired from politics before people like Ocasio-Cortez, Beta, and others gain power. In other words, they don't give a crap.

 

Take 6 minutes and watch that documentary posted by Musberger (above). The Ami Horowitz documentary emphasizes that the caravans aren’t a ragtag operation, but a highly organized & well funded effort costing somebody (Soros / the U.N./ other Leftist organizations ?) millions and millions of dollars.

It shows Americans coaching the people on what to say and do when approached by reporters and when they get to the border. I suspect there is a large effort going on here in America to grease the skids for these people.

It also shows that these aren’t refugees in the truest sense, but just people looking to better their circumstances. They’re just pawns really, being used by the Globalist / no borders crowd to advance an agenda.

These caravans, which will keep coming, are no less than an attack on the sovereignty of the U.S. They challenge America ‘s very right to exist as an sovereign nation which can control who is allowed in and who isn’t. They want literally anybody to be able to come in whenever they want. Given that there are billions of people in the world who would like to improve their circumstances, we better rise up and defeat this challenge.

 

The people providing the funding are supporting an invasion of the United States. Those people should be targeted by our military for elimination.

 

Sangre, but who has the balls to go after these people? Many thought Trump would but his administration has been coopted by the establishment who doesn't have the balls. I actually think establishment Republicans want the same things as Democrats they just want to be in power when they happen.

 

I've been saying this for years. I'm convinced the fighting between parties is made for TV. Thats why they all seemed to hate Trump the day he took the oath. The only solution to me is term limits that require absolute turnover in political power. There is zero reason for anyone to be in an elected position for 30+ years and retire wealthy off being a politician.

Term limits make other problems like even more short term focus.

The motivation will be to focus on stealing more wealth in a shorter time and make decisions that appeal to immediacy at the expense of really helping things.

Term limits is one of the most superficial issues. It's really astounding that people would actually amend the Constitution to do it.

I used to think the same thing when Republicans attacked Trump and the Tea Party. They took them out of their comfort zone. That is the argument for term limits. It shakes things up and forces the old guard out of their act.

 

Is it not possible that 1) Obama kept quiet because he didn't want to offend La Raza and LULAC's (he offended Ruben Navarrette Jr. who skewered Obama over his immigration policies) and 2) Enough is enough; Trump said the border needs to be dealt with and we all know it's a sieve. He ran on that platform and he is going to take credit for keeping his pledge.

 

As voters, we can shake things up anytime we want. We don't need an arbitrary term limit to do that.

 

But people overwhelmingly send back their incumbent because the system seems rigged to punish newbies.

 

To prevent career politicians intent on serving their own egos through shaping policy. Let's also eliminate pensions for those who hold office.
