Baseball inks 15 to National Letters of Intent - Texas Athletics I note that 6 of the 15 have Perfect Game scores projecting that they will be drafted out of high school. Lots of things can and will happen before the MLB signing date in July 2019, but I'm guessing that at least 3 of these players will sign professional baseball contracts out of high school and never set foot on the forty acres as student-athletes. The NCAA sets a roster limit at 35 players and restricts the number of players on scholarship to 27.
Catching is such a priority in Pro Ball that I suspect at least 1 if not 2 of the catchers will go pro as will, hopefully, some of the pitchers.
