the NCAA had done/will do the right thing and make it an 8 team playoff for the Natty. Limit teams to 11 game reg. season, plus 1 for Conf. Title games is only 12 games. 3 games max for the teams that play for the championship is only 15 games which I think they already do under the current format so its very easily done logistics wise.............the only problem is the money...........will the extra money from the conference payouts for bowl games etc make up for the lost revenue of a 12th reg. season game.

Lets further suppose that the Horns beat Kansas and then the Moonshiners (oh Lord please let them mudhole the dirt burglars next weekend) for the Big XII title..............do we make an 8 team playoff ?........................DISCUSS.

Would hope that under that scenario- UCF would get in. We can debate til the cows come home if they are one of the 8 best teams in the country but they are about to complete their 2nd undefeated season for gosh sake! Not sure I feel our team is ready for that type of setting this year but would love a New Years Day matchup against the likes of LSU, OSU or Wazzu. Feeling bullish on top 4 for next year!

I would think (hope) that any agreement to expand the playoff's would include a provision that would take all Power 5 Champions leaving 3 at large spots. Making up money will not be a problem as ESPN and Fox will just ask "How much?".

Yea, under 8 I believe power 5 conference champs get in.
I would at least like to see 6 team playoff with numbers 1 and 2 getting a bye.

I'll second that. The Horns have made a lot of progress this season. There is a bunch of talent, but not a lot of depth or experience. Add another great recruiting class, some additional depth from this year's class, and the year of experience to set up the 2019 season - then the Horns will be in the discussion for national honors.

There's not 8 national championship quality teams but would allow for some good wild card match ups, more fair to the non-power five conferences, and allow for a good team or 2 that didn't win the conference.
