I’ll start with Bama/OU. Conventional wisdom suggests that Bama will crush BlowU. I say, “not so fast.”

Bama looked mortal last night against an offense that has nowhere near the fire power. Simply, they haven’t seen anything like Murray and company, and remember what Manziel did to them in their house a few years ago. Bama has better athletes than we do but again, they looked average last night against Georgia. Now, on the other side of the ball, Tua and company should score easily and often. So it just might be a scoring contest.

I hate both teams but wouldn’t be surprised if the Sooners gave them all they can handle.

Now to Georgia vs. Texas. I really like our chances. First, they have nothing close to the explosive offenses we have been facing every week in our league although their running game “might” be better than what we are used to. (Might.)

Next, I think our offense will be effective, particularly with a healthy Ehlinger. Unless our O-Line plays poorly, I believe that Texas will do well offensively, even if Georgia is the best D we will have faced. Again, a healthy Sam makes a big difference.

The intangibles work in the favor of both Big-12 teams. Bama is expected to easily handle OU, and it’s the same for GA. Further, they are coming off a huge disappointment, and playing in a bowl that has to be a letdown.

    It will be interesting.

OU will put up some points, Alabama will put up a LOT more. We can hang with Georgia by playing our very best. Objectively I have to give the nod to the 'dawgs.

Like the discussion, and we have weeks more to do it.
First thought on bowl games is how motivated, and what circumstances coming in.
Several examples, but look at Auburn UCF last year.
Auburn had beat the National champions Bama a few weeks earlier, loses the CCG to Georgia, and ends up playing UCF that was playing for their world.
How motivated will the Dogs be?

Good opportunity to make a statement vs the SEC. Two wins would make a great narrative going into the 2019 season.

Uh no. As has been said many times before, nothing good comes from the dirt burglars winning, EVER!!! I want the Horns to beat the dawgs and for the dirt burglars to play hard, not be overmatched and get soundly screwed by the officials and lose.

Sacrilege I suppose but I'd love to see Alabama lose in the semifinals and OU get trounced by Clemson. Won't happen but the tide has enough titles for another decade. And there's no reason to think they won't be just as good or better next year.

The only reason Georgia was in that game is because the Alabama QB has a really bad ankle and can barely walk. If he is healthy, Alabama can name the score. Texas has shown you can hold the OU offense in check. OU can prob put up 30 against Bama but Bama can put up 50+ on OU

Depends a lot on whether Marquis Brown plays at full power.

And all our safeties. And no weird declarations for NFL and sit out.

I thought Tua was fine until his OLineman stepped on his ankle mid-4th quarter.

My reasoning is Alabama can't win it if they're not in it. Doesn't matter. The only way Alabama loses is to shoot themselves in both feet more than once.

I hate to disagree with your assessment, because I really want UT to win this game, and have a great offensive night.

But the best offensive showing we had all year, 48 points, was against the worst defense in the B12. We were held to under 30 multiple times. I think Georgia's defense will be well prepared to handle our offense.

We are not explosive. We have to drive the ball somewhat methodically. That's good if we are playing a D we can handle well. Georgia is very physical.

Creativity & Explosiveness, a QB that reads defenses well, and is accurate with the long ball will be a must for us to win.

Our offense may hit the mark on all counts. If it does, then we have a legit chance to pull the upset. If it misses on a count or two, we are doomed.

And lose by fifty plus. 100-45. Has a nice ring to it.

While I cannot disagree with the observation that “we’re not explosive,” I believe we should be. We have outstanding WRs, frankly two deep. While LJH and CJ are matchup nightmares because of their size, our homerun hitter is Duvernay...and Sam just keeps missing him.

Where we have really underachieved recently is the running game. Watson has played well but he is not much of a breakaway threat. Ingram seems to have hit a wall. Perhaps the month break will help him regain his legs, and pop. And frankly, the O-Line may not be opening the holes.

A healthy Sam should change the dynamics because when he is a threat to run on virtually every down, the D has to account for him, improving the numbers for our wideouts.

I really like our offense when Sam is healthy. It’ll be interesting to watch on January 1st.

I'm trying to envision some scenario where OU has the ball with 30 seconds to play and a 5-point lead. Kyler Murray takes the snap from the victory position, steps back about four paces and throws the double horns-down, forgetting that he hasn't actually downed the ball yet and drops the ball. Bama returns it 50 yards for a touchdown and wins the game.

This has definitely been one of the cylinders on the offense that hasn't been firing. I can think of probably five or six TDs through the season that we've missed on this play alone. I'm hoping that's the area Sam improves most on over the offseason (or more ideally, in the next three weeks.)

We have a lot of incoming speed for next year, and I'm still holding out hope that John Burt blows up. Between that and at least one of LJH and CJ coming back (I actually think they both come back), next year's offense is loaded.

That sums it up pretty well. Zero U defense has no chance to stop Bama. This could look like a basketball score, but Bama will win pretty easily.

I wouldn't be surprised with any result. If ou plays any defense they can definitely win. ND beat one good team this year and Clemson is not as good as the last few years but should win.

He has had a bad ankle for about 4 weeks. If you notice, he doesn't really run anymore and it is affecting his throws.

Hurts me but I hope OU beats Bama. I want our loss to lose some sting but I want OU to get killed in the next one.
REALLY want us to have a good showing agains GA but am NOT anticipating a victory. If it were not for family commitments made long ago I would be there - regardless of the cost and whether I can afford it. I sooo want Herman to put up a good show.
