I haven't read / heard the "back story" surrounding this resignation but I suspect the lies & drama handling the wife abuse allegations about the asst. coach did him in. He and or the BOR prolly decided to let him finish out the season to limit some of the carnage to the program and recruiting.
he also mentioned a cyst in his brain that he needs to deal with. i'm sure the Zach thing is part of it. Great Coach Jerkoff Complicated situation with Zach/Earle Bruce Maybe not that healthy ...That about sums it up for me
I’d leave a school too if they were so eager to throw me under the bus. He will rest up and be ready to go when the right time comes. Winning % is very high like Knute Rockne levels....
I'm going to assume that this time around, the health concerns are real and this is as big an issue as has been stated on broadcasts. (Who knows, maybe the concerns were legit the first time around, he quit, decided he could handle it and now it's catching up with him.) If he takes another job in a year or so, all bets are off. But I just don't see him stepping down in order to take another position somewhere else.
yeah, i'll be mostly on the same page. but i do know people with health issues that don't seem to be able to work for 15 straight years. they work for 3-5 years and something crops up, then they get better and work for several years. in my life, they are older diabetics. but a guy who is one of the Top 2 coaches in college football is redlining every day of his life. with heart issues and a brain cyst, maybe he is stuck taking time off in between.
I'm guessing this was part of the deal when he received his three suspension. He probably agreed to leave at the end of the season at that time.
When he left Florida I didn't believe he was done coaching. Now I'm mostly convinced he is. Kelly is more likely to leave for the NFL than be fired. If Helton's fired it's too soon. They don't always hire guys with a USC connection. Ted Tollner, Larry Smith, Paul Hackett, Pete Carroll.
Meant to include they went after Grant Teaff in the early 80's. He agreed to take the job, it was announced publicly, then changed his mind the next day.
I heard Cowherd talking today (remember, Cowherd broke the story of Urban's retirement a few days ago) and he said if Urban coaches again it would be in college only. Then he said it would be for a team currently contending for top ten status. My guess is LSU. I don't see Orgeron hangin on for too long; he's like a guy dating a hot chick who's way over his head. You know it's going to end soon. LSU has very fertile recruiting, a tremendous fan base and a great legacy. Just like Ohio State and Florida.
Not sure Brian Kelly's going anywhere. Urban to SC means that we will have a chance to beat his *** regularly when we move to the Pac12
It could be two years or so. Not sure what Orgeron's buy-out might be but Saban will be that much older. I think LSU could compete with a great coach which I think Urban is if you ignore all the other crap surrounding him.
I think it got too hot in the tOSU kitchen and by mutual agreement, he chose to resign. Even a lowlife administration such as the one at tOSU was probably forced to see the writing on the wall. I will be very surprised if he doesn’t re-emerge somewhere else in one to two years. I just don’t buy the health angle. Why not the NFL?
