PEW did a huge poll of 27 nations on immigration
If you were wondering why you havent seen the results on NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, MSNBC, CNN; heard about it on NPR; or read about it in the NYT or WAPO, here is why ....
NONE wanted more immigrants.
Not a single country in the poll.
No one wants it.
Except, of course, the politicians who benefit from it (and new immigrants who want all their 3rd cousins in too).
"As the number of international migrants reaches new highs, people around the world show little appetite for more migration – both into and out of their countries, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 27 nations conducted in the spring of 2018.
Across the countries surveyed, a median of 45% say fewer or no immigrants should be allowed to move to their country, while 36% say they want about the same number of immigrants. Just 14% say their countries should allow more immigrants. (Those who said no immigrants should be allowed volunteered this response.)...."
Many worldwide oppose more migration – both into and out of their countries
With regard to the generally higher than average numbers for the US below, the primary reason is that the US has ~67M "recent immigrants" (more than any other nation on earth) who are already in the US and they want the rest of their extended family in via chain migration. Nonetheless, more Americans want no or at least less immigrants, than want more.
