So teams like St. John’s does and Texas doesn’t? And Joyner doesn’t need to be able to shoot the ball great from the mid range to have/make an impact on THIS team. She’s the best rebounder on the team and is the most versatile PF on the team in terms of having the athleticism to guard the undersized/stretch 4’s on the perimeter of Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Iowa St, and West Virginia at a decent level while also having the size to guard traditional PF’s.
If Joyner ever played with a high motor/energy All the time she would the best player on this team even without a consistent mid range jumper. IMO, Texas’ weakness is defensively and the lack of athleticism on the perimeter against quicker players. If Coach Aston can somehow cover up that weakness as much as possible and also continue to find ways to get other players open they can be in the mix. My point is just that no matter how good those teams are there is no dominant teams in WCBB this year.
