so any insight, JF, into what happened here??

 

USC commit 5-star LB Maninoa Tufono (Hawaii) says he is uncertain if he will sign next week, or NSD2. He also said the two schools still pursuing him are LSU and Texas.

 

At first the idea with De'Mariyon Houston seemed to be his senior year film was pretty blah.
But given that neither ou, OSU nor anyone else really showed any interest, you have to wonder if there might also be a testing issue.


You hear alot that our coaches are picky. Here is some support for that idea --

Texas 247 says WR Marcus Washington told Misery U he is signing with us.

 

Something related to USC -- FOX NFL Sunday guys today were saying NFL teams have not given up on Kingsbury and are looking into the buyout amount. The idea is that several NFL teams are desperate to find a pass-offense guru. If so, word needs to reach the McCoys.

Also, if true, then it's clearly a shot at aggy. We had to first get the sheep herders to run away, but once we did, the Big 12 playing style style become all the rage.
Poor aggy.

 

So apparently we still have a shot at WR Elijah Higgins.
Not 100% Stanford even though he was accepted
If so, that would certainly be against trend
Plus, could also just be more paysite talk to keep people on the hook

Team recruiting class rankings are one thing, but for the coaches, recruiting is more about finding the right players for positions of need and putting together a solid 2-deep.

Our 2019 class will be good, in the top 10 once again. But have we addressed all of our positions of need?

The fact that Caleb visited Oregon last worries me.

 

why are we so feast or famine? too many empty cells.

 

Recall Strong's commitments that did not stay around....

sure be nice if Texas could develop 60-70 players ready to step in all the time to provide solid 2-3 deep

Nice! I read where Gary’s success was instrumental.
Personally I love this trend. Tre was big, Calvin, and obviously Gary this year.

Caleb Johnson fills a pretty big position of need. Good chance he and Floyd will be starters next year

And Johnson will have 3 years of eligibility while at Texas so these two have the chance to be quite the duo for Orlando

 

Recruiting people and Alabama people have been reminding us for awhile now that that RB Trey Sanders had only applied to one school -- Alabama, which seemed to seal his fate.

However, Eric Nahlin says he just heard that Sanders actually applied to 4 schools -- Bama, Georgia, Florida, and Texas.
Nobody knows where he is going

The Football Brainiacs say they sense "some increasing optimism" with regard to RB Noah Cain.
