I need something to distract me from my nerves about this weekend's game! Everyone seemed to be in agreement that the phone light "Don't Stop Believing" was a big hit. While I did love the feeling it created, I know that Mississippi State has been doing the same thing to that song for a while now. It wouldn't feel right if we started doing it too. HOWEVER... what if we had our own stadium song to start this new tradition with? What song would you like to hear played at DKR? Maybe something from a Texas artist? Or a song with meaning?
Bachman-Turner Overdrive - "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" Bon Jovi - "Livin' On a Prayer" (cliche, but still good) Third Eye Blind - "Semi-Charmed Life" It's gotta be something most people know and can easily sing along to, at least for the chorus.
Probably not Semi Charmed Life. It's about abusing meth. Seems more like OU's style. I think Wisconsin showed with "Jump Around" that it kind of has to happen organically. They played it one week and it caught on because of the participation aspect. I'll say this at the risk of pissing people off: it can't be a country/Texas song. It has to be something that 20K students can get behind.
Well, if you want to appeal to the student body, which is 19% Asian, I was told David Allen Coe's far east tour was very successful. I have a suggestion for the school president, but that would get me banned.
We got some great 20-year old Texas songwriters I need to know about? Okay, how about Kacey Musgraves, “Merry Go Round”? Kind of depressive but it does have the dope reference, so the kids might like that.
