Need some help please. Came home to catch the last quarter of the Baylor-Stanford game. Noticed Cox not in game and on tail end of bench seemingly disengaged. Checked the box scores and Cox played 15 minutes and scored 2 points. K Brown played 30 minutes but only 5 points. Was Cox hurt? She was not in foul trouble. Or is it the issue at guard in that the Baylor guards couldn't get it inside to em? The big girl for Stanford hit 3 of 4 three pointers so it is possible that Cox and/or Brown couldn't get to the 3 point line to guard her so they sat or were ineffective. Anybody watch it all or know?
Like I’ve said earlier, it’s there for the taking. There are no dominant teams in WCBB and there’s no reason that Texas can’t be in the mix if they improve even with the injuries.
I watched...Stanford defended the Baylor post game magnificently. Sit on Brown's right shoulder and force her to turn middle into help. Cox was not in foul trouble at all... just too slow and ineffective against a very well-coached and well-prepared Stanford team (they usually are). Nalyssa Smith was really good for Baylor today and all their freshmen got some decent minutes. They're going to be a very tough matchup for us this year and years to come...their young bigs are athletic and fast up and down the floor. Stanford shot well when it counted and was able to hold off a fourth quarter Baylor surge led by Smith and Chloe Jackson. Hopefully KA was watching and taking notes on Stanford's defensive scheme... But somehow I doubt it.
Certainly a scheme one team uses may not work for another team. It remains to be seen if any of the effective strategies Stanford used work for the Horns personnel. I hope so. It is encouraging that Baylor appears not to be as dangerous from BTA like in the past. Thanks for your insights.
According to the commentators, Smith was on fire and leading the late Baylor rally, hence, no reason to put Cox back in. Stanford was ineffective in the first quarter from BTA but heated up, ending up 13-30. Lack of being to hit their FTs really kept Stanford from making this one an easy win down the stretch. Stanford only hit 9-21 from the FT line. They were getting there, just not converting. They were real physical and swarmed Brown and Cox when they got the ball.
Other Big 12 scores: Tech 86 Nevada 67 WVU 78 Eastern Kentucky 29 The Baylor fans had to be kinda upset with the 68-63 loss as several were predicting a 20+ win for the Lady Bears.
I have no idea what the sentence "You foul your own players out more times than not...." means. Maybe it's the limited space of twitter that helps make that sentence confusing.
Not sure of the meaning either, but perhaps it means by sitting the player you are taking the player off the court for an extended period of time so it has the same effect for that time period as fouling out.
Mulkey always pulls Kalani when she picks up two first half fouls. So, not understanding that tweet either.
Still not clear (pro or con) in intent of this tweet — which part is sarcasm and which part isn’t. But maybe one of you can make more sense of it from the limited thread, for the original tweet.
I hear you Kurupt and I like your optimism. I may be one of the ones you're referring to. LOL I just don't think we're very consistent in our play but that should improve as we get more experience and advance through the season.
