Classy move by Mark Cuban to let Donald Carter, Mavs founder, accept the award. Two things: Honors Carter a very nice man who brought the NBA to Dallas and lets Mavs fans compare now to then. Cuban is a great owner, willing to spend money, be creative, etc. He's the one who started getting nice charter flights for the team, nice seats on the bench for comfort and prevention of back injuries, using Excel Spreadsheets to identify trade opportunities...
Great owner! By the way, he caught a lot of flack for bitching about the refs back when the refs gave the Mavs no respect. He didn't just complain, he used video and stats. NBA didn't like it, but while some calls still go against the Mavs, the games are called fairly. Refs aren't perfect, but it balances out.

Cuban is also picking up the tab for the celebration parade, taking the burden off the city. He says a few bonehead things here and there, but there isn't another guy I'd want running my team.

Don Carter is still 5% owner and is a great guy. He's the uncle of one of my buddies.

He's always been a "good" guy, imo. But he has also developed a classy trait also which is stellar.

I like Cuban. I am glad, however, that he did not win the auction for the Rangers.

Cuban is a buffoon. I will never, ever like him. I do recognize his genius, though. I still think he's a gigantic douche.

I was amazed that Cuban was able to stay low key through out the playoffs. If only he could have done this 6 years ago the Mavs may have multiple titles now. So long has he had hired Carlisle and signed Chandler 6 years ago too.

After re-watching Josh Howard and Devin Harris play defense, it's pretty hard to hang the 2006 outcome on Cuban. He really did his part during these playoffs and continues to do the right things towards the fans, his team, his coaches and his organization. Great, great owner.

Cuban is more interested in changing the system than putting a winning team on the court. He bloviates about talent but seems to have no clue about building a winning team. Yes, yes, mavs won it all in a down year for the nba, big whoop.

He gets involved in other businesses (tequila, shark tank, and others) and makes a fool of himself with his political comments.

I don't consider him a classy guy but if you think differently than fine. I just don't see that he's done anything of substance for the Mavs.

Winning a championship is literally the most substantial thing an owner can do. Blind hate

And even before the Finals win, and everyone blasted him for not spending big money to re-sign Steve Nash, but that's what led to them finally making the NBA Finals for the first time, while the Suns of that era never did.
