Those of you who know more about the status of recruiting than I do (which is probably all of you), please bring me up to speed on the names of some top tier recruits we are still fighting for that the Sugar Bowl win might help our chances with.
I think it will help a lot more with 2020 recruits than 2019. This deflates any negative recruiting against Texas all offseason as Herman builds what should be a top 5 class.
Agree; especially now with the early signing period. If Herman wants to play with the big dogs a Top 5 Class every year will be essential.
I loved how dominant our lines were (dline had one bad drive in the 4th). I hope the high school beef sees that.
I was really impressed with how well the DL played last night, and it's not like Hampton and Rogers were hanging out. Pretty damn nice for a bunch of 3 stars, maybe Ominehu was 4, can't remember. Regardless, Oscar may not be a great recruiter but he has certainly been a very good coach. I hope the recruits can see that.
Agreed. And Coburn looked very big the few plays I saw him. Looks like he could eat up a double team like a Whopper.
Someone stated somewhere I read that he was convinced the Horns would be in serious consideration with Athlete Bru McCoy of Santa Ana CA if the Horns beat GA last night. It may be old news as the kid may have committed to USC since I read that. Anyone else know?
I thought he had already signed his LOI and would announce at all-star game this Saturday---only the guru JF knows for sure...
Another interesting note I think JF brought up but the 5 star DL from Louisiana Sopsher did not sign early. Not sure if we have any chance but the kind of kid that would change this class
Very interesting read. I knew this stuff went on, but so public? How will the other players and coaches treat his brother? Strange but compelling situation. Thanks for posting this
Not quite the same, but we took a flier on D'Onta Foreman because we wanted Armanti. Worked out pretty well for us
Others may eventually offer the pair, but IMO that kid will take his brother and go to LSU in the end....
Well it's pretty easy to handicap this one IMHO: 1. He is a La. kid and prolly grew up wanting to play there. 2. LSU gave him the first and only dual D-1 offer, so far. 3. He claims he talks to Coach O every day, EVERY day! 4. Daily, Coach O is continually selling him, bonding with him, re-enforcing the commitment / offer and the love, etc. In the end, it's just an educated guess what an 18 year HS kid will ultimately choose to do...
I agree with this although I think some late signees might take a second look at Texas. Who wouldn’t want to be part of a program with this trajectory? Additionally, the CJ decision reinforces the message that something special is happening here. Herman now, really has a great story to tell. In Year 2, with many true freshman playing vital roles, the momentum is undeniable. In fact, I would argue that the positive buzz for Texas may be unrivaled at the moment. (How long has it been since we could say that? Probably 1/4/06.) The only issue now, for 2019, is the reality of slim pickins.
This is one of the consequences to the early signing period. You lose the opportunity to sway recruits with a great bowl performance because most have already signed.
It seems like TH has a profile of the type of player he wants. Star rating be damned. Maybe this kid and/or his brother are not a good fit.
The article made it sound like were staying in contact with Ishmael. Not sure if the coaches are recruiting him hard or not. Could be a number of reasons if not. Might not have any interest in his brother. Might be because coaches feel hes a lock to lsu and dont want to waste time and resources. Crystals balls are a 62% lsu and 33% bama
