Let's just say it's clear most students are still on break....

Interesting it is on ESPN2, but Galindo is doing the play by play. Wonder if he can hide his Texas love. Plus, looks like a normal Texas crowd haha.

Glad West Virginia isn't trapping much with this full court pickup as it's already clear we don't know the fundamentals of press breaking.

Most of our driving has been set up by good ball movement, too. They are way more stagnant than we are, actually. Neither team is all that great on offense but I like what I'm seeing from the Texas guys, our main problem is just butterfingers.

Helps that we're getting a little home court help too...

What happened to Sims? He's in street clothes with a cast on his leg.

Man, our movement is so much better than usual, but our ball control is lousy.

Hayes needs to quit sending all his blocks out of bounds via volleyball spike.

Yep, not how they likely drew it up, but we'll take it.

Wouldn't have expected a 2-0 start in Big XII play after the non-conference play. Best start in conference since 2010-11 I think I heard them say.

Osetkowski with a big block and steal to snuff out the last couple of WV possessions.

WVU started two walk on’s so it is hard to put a lot of stock in this home win over team that is in bottom third of league this year. It is great to get win and if this team can somehow find 8 more wins they will find way to get into the tournament which I would never have thought possible two weeks ago but I just don’t trust this team and still have hard time seeing them win more than 5 games in conference. Dont get me wrong I really hope I am wrong and that this team is making me eat a steaming huge pile of crow come March but I just cant get too excited over these two wins without seeing some consistent shooting and offense froma team that has so many challenges on that end of the court.

That will come with time and experience. Unless he just likes swatting them out of the court. :smile1:

I actually kind of wish that had missed as long as we still won, because it's hard to dissuade most 20 year olds (or if the NBA is any indication, most 30 year olds) [or if the average pickup game is any indication, most 40 year olds]) from the idea that if a shot goes in, it means whatever you did leading up to it was right, but if the shot goes out, then whatever you did leading up to it was wrong.

And the way to beat a 2-3 zone is not with a ton of dribbling right into a double team just inside the 3 point line, where pulling up means a long 2, you aren't far enough out to draw a defender away from his spot, and you aren't far enough in to make both defenders collapse and leave the wing or corner open. But then since he stepped back for a 3 and hit a shot that probably goes in 10% of the time, he may think that's the way to beat a 2-3 next time, rather than the tried-and-true rule of breaking it apart by getting into the middle near the foul line (which worked almost every time we managed to get there, whether via dribble or pass).
