    Bubba,

I have no doubt that your staff does that, but perhaps not to the extent of Urban Myth. If your know anyone that does not believe that there was major tampering between Columbus and Athens, please let me know. I'll send them a get well card to the psych ward they are in.

Lincoln caves in to backlash. Austin can bounce.

I’m confused what you’re talking about. I was referencing Hurts not doing it like Kelly Bryant and shutting down on his team before burning a year of eligibility. Hurts stuck it out, played garbage time and then saved their season in the SEC title game at the cost of a year of eligibility. That is a leader. It impressed me then and I was Christmas shopping watching that game on my iPhone.

These guys like Fields and Hurts and Austin Kendall are high level free agents that coaches have to recruit. When Kendall hit the portal I figured Hurts was coming here. I look for Lincoln to study a lot of UT offense and try to mirror some of that Ehlinger offense with Hurts.

In my mind, Hurts is a significant downgrade from what ou has had behind center the past two years. Remember also that the talent level around Hurts at Bama was about as good as it gets, including an extraordinarily OL and fantastic backs.

We’ll see, but I’m not particularly concerned. Remember also that Texas beat both Mayfield and Murray with teams that probably weren’t as good as we are going to have this year, and next, and next...

I actually really like Hurts and it seems like he is above that.

Adrian Peterson said that about why he chose OU over Texas, and he got to watch on TV as we won the MNC in the 2006 Rose Bowl.

I understand that but some on here and elsewhere would deny OU this QB if it were up to them.

So, Hurts will have one year of eligibility.

He has to enroll by Friday to participate in spring practice. I'll bet Lincoln Riley is down at registration filling out the forms right now!

I wonder how this will effect HS QB recruiting.
If HS QBs will look at OU and wonder if they'll ever have a chance to start there.
Its going to have been what, 4 going on 5 years in a row that the starting QB has been a HS recruit?
Of course, it may not matter of OU can consistently be magnet for transfers.

Yes Did he actually declare or just say he was? And then change his mind? Can you do that?

Excellent point. The OL at Zero U is not in the same league as Bama - no question that Hurts is an excellent QB, but he had much better talent around him at Bama.

Not questioning the talent at Bama but how often did I witness Kyler standing in a seemingly unpenatrable pocket. Over and over I said what we wouldn’t give for Sam to have that kind of time. With so many OL departures it will be interesting to see how well they rebuild but without question they were the best in B12 last year.

^Agree, nashhorn. But they are losing most of the starters from the OL, and will have to retool their OL for next season. Hard to imagine they can maintain the level of last season. They're not quite like the Nebraska Huskers of the 90s, where Tom simply reloaded year after year.

Heard on OK radio that Rising and Beuchelle were transferring that that Thompson had spoke of transferring a few weeks ago. Maybe you guys should worry about your retention. :)

Spencer Rattler is the nation's #1 QB recruit who will show up in Norman in June. We'll be all right there. I expect that we'll break the sting of Heisman trophy ceremonies with Billy being Billy. I also expect Bill Bedenbough to have a quality OL before October of 2019. Not as good as last year's but they've got quality depth there, they're just young. The defense is still the big worry to me. DL is not something that just improves as much as we need in 8 months.

I'd have him enrolled in a MA in basketweaving immediately!

Remind me again how many times has that happened in the past 15 years? Must be fun to pick a time almost 14 years ago to prove your point. Its been, what, 11 years since our las conference championship. Thats why they get who they want. Change that up and we'll get who we want.

Hey Bubba can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with you on the retention issue. Kids this day get me but I'm old fashion no doubt.
Unfortunately I also am quite sure your OL will be back in no time. My only hope is that our resurgence is real and we'll be right there with you soon if not right away! Hookem

This was my first thought as well.

It’s not easy to dislike this kid after the last two OU QBs. Folks I’m 56 and the ship sailed long ago on hating a kid for playing football at a rival. The last two OU QBs were all about me ...poor sportsmanship “swagger” mode and for me- hate the behavior as compared to a McCoy, Tebow or Sam Bradford type. Shoot anyone who should have been arrogant would have been VY or RW and as good as they were, never saw any disrespectful behaviors

It is refreshing to have OUBubba here as well as a side note. Always read his posts.

I wonder what our response would be if Shane wanted to transfer to TCU

I love Shane but if he — or any Texas QB — were to choose to transfer to a Big 12 team that would be distasteful to me. Unless a player was completely mistreated by his previous school (and we probably wouldn’t know if they were), I don’t like the message being sent by an in-conference transfer. I wasn’t thrilled when Bonney stayed in conference but perhaps TH blessed the move.

I’m not talking about rules. I’m talking about respect and etiquette.
