Doubt Horns come back now. Second half shooting Horns 30%. blow -u 70%. Blow u up now and typical Shaka coached disappearing offense.

Shaka Smart is 4-0 against OU at home and 5-2 against OU overall. Both of his losses were close. One thing that can be said about Smart is he either has Lon Kruger's number or has us ready to play OU every time.

Next up is TCU. Smart is 2-4 against TCU all-time and 0-3 in Fort Worth. Winning this game would be huge for him "getting the bbs back in the box" as it would be 1. a start for showing some consistency and 2. overcoming what has been a proven stumbling block for him.

If he starts putting the BBs in the box with a TCU win that's great. But I think the Walking Boss BB has rolled way the hell across the room and into the dustbunnies under the corner sofa.

If Texas wins consistently, finishes in the top half of the Big 12 and has a good Big 12 & NCAA Tournament showing, I think Smart can put the BBs back in the box. However, it is still going to be a tough sell to most of the fanbase at this point. Unfortunately, after the Radford, VCU, Providence and Oklahoma State losses, everyone knows he can turn right around and do something nuts like lose to a really bad Georgia team next Saturday. Smart can turn it around, but he’ll have to do what he has yet to do... win consistently.

^^^Yep. I hope he can finally get some consistency, and keep the players pounding the paint.
    1. The defense is good enough.
    2. The effort and heart is good enough.
    3. The offensive discipline and plan, and execution is not good enough.
    4. The free throw shooting has improved to an acceptable level.

Three out of four is not bad. But the one of the four that's lagging is, unfortunately, probably the most important of the bunch. Shaka has to coach like his job depended on it.

Not sure I agree. I have watched us move the ball around nicely (starting with a weave which I dislike, but, oh well) and work hard for open shots. We regularly make "the extra pass", but we can't hit the open shots we get nearly often enough. So to me, discipline and plan is acceptable, but shot execution is wildly inconsistent

Sangre, I would say that for the KU and OU games the discipline and plan were good enough. But I think the 5-6 games prior to those not so much.

The execution, like you stated so well above, is wildly inconsistent; and needs to get more consistent.

TCU will be a very tough test. They have a fine coach, and their fieldhouse will be sold out and pretty loud. A win there would be very good.

You can only teach players to work for, recognize, and take "good" shots. You can't teach them to make those shots. So I'm not sure what else anybody expects Shaka to do.

I get this^^^. So many teams seem to get guys who walk into the gym and jack up the jumpers, and hit them, at an amazing rate as freshmen. OU seems to just reload with these kids since Kruger has been there.

It may be a talent and player evaluation thing. Maybe some coaching staffs are better at evaluating shooters than others. I really don't know. Just throwing out thoughts.

Maybe send an assistant coach over to Lubbock to spy on Beard's practices?

I don't know, maybe we should ask Bill Self what he tells his guys who have won 14 straight conference championships to make those shots year after year.

I have no expectation to be Kansas, but it sure would be great to have a coach who can recognize something as simple as who's hot and who's not.
