AOC wants 70% tax on wealthy

Pretty much agree. I guess the big difference between the two is that AOC advocates a complete economic and social overhaul of the United States. She's a borderline revolutionary. If you're going to pursue that kind of agenda, it takes a lot more consideration and trust.

Maybe we could take the issues one at a time and examine the facts. Which issue would you like to start with? Immigration? Taxes? Regulations? Judicial appointments? The green new deal? I mean, since they are similar and all, we should look at results to compare the two.

They have similarities in style but not on substance. The wall is the nuttiest thing in Trump's agenda, and I'm not a fan. However, the Green New Deal is many magnitudes of wingnuttery beyond that. A $25B public works project of questionable judgment is one thing. It can go wrong, but there are limits on how wrong it can go. The reorganization of probably 50 percent of the US economy in ten years is quite another - mass economic destruction, potential starvation, etc. It's Great Leap Forward-level stuff.

I disagree with you on the wall. That issue could not be more clear cut and simple for me. I agree that they both suck stylistically.

Today was an excellent example of the difference in substance. AOC and friends fu--ed New York out of the new Amazon H.Q., which N.Y. estimated would have brought them $30billion in new revenue. Trump would personally blow Bezos to land that deal.

I found a good, appropriate, fully-clothed PG-13 clip from this much-discussed lesbian dance theory class. Link below. I think AOC makes her appearance with the line "Hey little man, wanna dance?"

I have it on good authority that the impressionable young lads auditing this lesbian dance theory class are members of a notorious Brooklyn street gang.

Knowing how Trump feels about Jeff Bezos, that would be pretty hard to swallow - literally and figuratively.

But you're right that AOC (with help from other idiots in New York) did screw her own city and its people. I don't like these deals no matter who's doing them, and there were legitimate reasons to oppose this particular deal. However, New York decided to do it, and they stood to benefit from it enormously even if it had some negatives. To then ***** and bellyache so much that a company that is motivated by making money decided that it would rather forfeit those benefits than take their whiny ******** says a lot about how ridiculous these "critics" had become.

Just look at tax abatements as an increase in freedom and it may help mitigate your concern over such deals.

Ok, so let's dissect this a little bit.

    1) Amazon would have received tax abatements ($3 BILLION). TheSE same taxes are not being paid by anyone at the moment right? SO IS IT FAIR TO SAY NYC IS IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION TODAY AS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WITH AMAZON TO THE EXTENT OF THESE TAXES?

    2) Amazon would have hired 25,000. How many would be "locals" and how many would be transplants? Either way, it seems there will be an economic effect to the local area because Amazon's revenues come from all over. SO IS IT FAIR TO SAY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION FROM AREAS OUTSIDE OF NYC TO NYC?

    3) Gentrification. Would some people have been pushed out? Probably. Is this always bad? To those people, yes. BUT IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AMAZON'S PRESENCE WOULD SOMEHOW HELP THESE PEOPLE GAIN EMPLOYMENT DUE TO THE RISING TIDE OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN THE AREA? I have no idea what those affected currently do for a living.

    4) In the world I live in, AOC must explain how she has improved the lives of her constituents. She must explain her form of political power is good for creating jobs. I BELIEVE SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT.

Cuomo is pissed as is De Blasio. Cuomo is blaming her (without naming her). De Blasio is trying to mock Amazon about not being tough enough for New York which is a joke. If being tough means dealing with grand-standing politicians who will not operate in good faith then you can have it. Who cares about that?

I'm sure he's having a good time in the bedroom, but I can't even imagine the drama and ******** he has to put up with to get those good times.

It reminds me of a pool party I went to about 15 years ago. I met this guy there who by conventional standards was unattractive. He was chubby, hairy, and nerdy, and he didn't have a bunch of money. But he was cool and appreciated good beer and I wasn't there to pick up dudes anyway, so I talked to him for a bit.

Then his wife came over, and she was 10 by any conventional standard. She was a pretty brunette and had the best body I have ever seen - a true marvel of nature. Obviously, I wondered how he scored so much with so little.

Then I went out to dinner with them two weeks later, and it became clear. She was the most pretentious, self-righteous, arrogant, and obnoxious ***** I have ever met. He was humiliated and clearly annoyed with her the whole time. That poor guy may have gotten a smokin hot wife, but he paid a huge price for it. He was in hell. Plain and simple. Well, that's what it's probably like to get with AOC, except AOC isn't anywhere near as hot.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

In my mind, I think I finally found someone more naive, stunningly ignorant, often foolish, reckless & delusional than aggy.... this AOC babe.

It's clear she hates capitalism, the U.S. and white people and doesn't understand economics or geopolitics.

He's probably an avowed feminist (not that there's anything wrong with that) fully committed to purge all evidence of traditional male masculinity (read: toxicity) and if he's smart, he's telling her how smart she is.

The irony about New York and AOC ousting Amazon their state is that in order to implement the Green New Deal, they would have to subsidize and negotiate with corporations on a HUGE scale. If you can't work with Amazon to set up shop in your state, how can you manage virtually the entire economy?

They just proved by their own actions that it won't work and they don't have the intestinal fortitude to make it happen.

I have a suspicion that AOC thinks they can execute this on the strength of the mom and pop stores of the world and not have to rely on big corporate dollars. Her own staffers are out there verbally attacking people from the Center for American Progress, of all places, because they take money from corporations.

The revolution is here, and it skipped all its ecom and civics classes.

Anyone want to guess what happened to the guy who first reported AOR had put her boyfriend on payroll? (which appears to be an ethics violation)(but she's a Democrat so everyone knows nothing will happen to her)

    He got kicked off Twitter

Do you think she is setting herself up to become some sort of corporate extortionist? In the future, she will be able to take bribes from (evil) corporations who wont want to be “AOC’d,” like Amazon was.

If so, she will quickly be one of the wealthiest people in the Congress. Is she this devious? She does not seem very. But neither are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and yet they have both survived quite well off extorting business for decades.

But I doubt she would be paying out 70% on that "income."

I don't see AOC becoming a shake down artist at all, let alone a race pimping hustler on the order of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

I'm sure that 80 percent of the young "men" (at least the white men) in New York City are like that. I don't think many actually believe that crap, but they say what they need to say or think they need to say.

You can move from one State to another and sell the real estate you worked from, so shaking down companies is difficult. Race pimps will call you racist wherever you go. Any company with decent management would tell her to f -off. The laws just won't allow her bullshite.

AOC is just not a smart person. Neither is anyone that thinks the Green New Deal is something reasonable or executable. Hell, even if you believed in that deal, you couldn't accomplish the "retrofitting of all buildings" portion of the deal in Austin, much less the U.S., over a 10 year period.
