Wish I was there but stuck here in the hospital due to a rare strep strain in my blood due to my previous gall bladder removal. Anyway, I am going to live.

The more important question is whether The West Mall crowd has shown up...could get dicey if they have.

Edit: Need pics of the food and people!

Ugh, I hate that I had to work today and miss the tailgate. I'll be leaving the store in a few minutes so please post what section and row y'all are in and I'll try to find you.

No. Some nice frat boys came over and helped when our canopies got caught in a gust.

Even though I missed almost everything then didn't get to hang out during the game I enjoyed getting to see a few of y'all for the short time. Maybe we can coordinate something for a game in the fall. Looks like it was a great HornFans turnout! I ended up leaving at "halftime" because it was absolutely miserable with the wind. I look forward to the next time!

It was nice to meet everyone and stuff myself with delicious barbecue and sides. I especially loved the pork.

Had a great time. Enjoyed talking to everyone, food was amazing. In all couldn't have asked for a better tailgate. Then it got cold and I wasn't prepared, still I enjoyed the company and I guarantee I want to be there the next time we do this.

    Thanks Sangre!
I am getting more and more into bar bq. Wish I could have brought the green egg, just too fragile. Had a blast. In spite of the weather we had until 12:30.

Mmm brined pork tenderloin.....how long do you smoke it?

I usually stay clear of tenders because they can get so dry, but brining it would solve that problem I think. Never even considered it.

    Vol,
We brine our Turkey for Thanksgiving too. It really works. Since I don't own a Bar BQ Restaurant, I have no secrets. The brine is the trick, I brined that pork for 12 hours, could have been less but I carried the meat to Austin from Houston in the brine solution from the night before. Then I just cooked it on the Weber Grill pretty fast. I put some Woody's cook in sauce on it. As I was putting it on the grill, on both sides. I'd say I had the pork off the grill in under 20 minutes. That brine just tenderizes it. Works on TG Turkey......big time! Ours is never dry. I give my wife Karen all the credit for the brining tricks. Check out "How to Grill" by Steven Raichlen. Recipe's in there are the real deal. Good luck!

LHC, HIC, Horn6721, X Missin TX, MilitaryHorn, OleHornFan - we missed y'all.

    Sorry, NO FIGHTS to report.
We speculated if some of the West Mall posters were in attendance, there would be some fights.

The tailgate was all about LOVE.
Love of good food, love of beverages, love of UT football, love of HF stories - past and present.

Conversations I remember during the tailgate about such topics as:

    Past HF tailgates
    Akers, Mack, Charley, Herman
Sugar Bowl vicktree over GA & current team
    The 2019 Defense
Sam - Heisman candidacy this season?
    Stadium expansion
It was unanimous that ou stills sucks!

The long running aggy thread started by banned poster Bevo's BF 1973
The 20 year running Mira Sorvino thread.....
How ALLSOME JoeFan's recruiting info and updates are
Whatever happened to Spider Ag, GOO, Longhorn Lawyer and a few others?
Missing RPongett, Scipio, JR Denton, etc.

We also talked about a variety of current posters....
Dionysus having an interesting lunch with Sabre Horn last week.

So I take it that Musberger1 didn't show up in a Che shirt and plant a Venezuelan flag in the turf?

Yeah, I was sicker than I thought. Spent a week in the hospital with Streptococcus bovis in the blood stream. In fact, the only reason I am out is because I have a PICC line to deliver my antibiotics for the next two weeks.

I will definitely go next year and try to bring some of my desserts. I think that I am a pretty good baker.
