The b&tt hurt when Jimbo leaves for LSU in December will be epic. 75 million won't keep a coach in CS! Morris come on down.....

God bless the aggsy, if they ever lose the delusion, they would probably win something.

Funeral homes in Louisiana will be booming because a lot of people with fat checkbooks have to die before Fisher gets back on payroll in Baton Rouge. Real estate sales will tell you how much power Woodward will have. LSU AD doesn't live in a condo in NOLA, but where he is "allowed" to live speaks volumes. Similar to Springdale and Brazos County.

The big picture is this: What has the Texas A&M football program done that merits respect in the last ten years? Last twenty?

I believe the vast majority of posters on this board acknowledged how great John (as he now wishes to be known) Manziel was in college. There is no doubt about it. There was much hand-wringing going on over our recruiting miss with him.

The "rivalry" is strictly because they are so loud about it. The overall record is lopsided in the Longhorns favor. The last national championship they won was in 1939. In the modern era, their two runs of success (under Sherrill and RC) were followed by the revelation of cheating scandals. The lost their last game at home to UT in a scoreboard game they desperately wanted (and this was to an average at best Longhorn roster). They put signs up in Austin declaring it to be "SEC Country" (I saw one in North Austin off of I-35) BEFORE they had won a game in an attempt to impute the SEC legacy upon themselves without having earned it. It goes on and on.

It seems their desperation drove Jimbo's contract. That in and of itself tells me they are not a blue-blood with a legacy that demanded respect. Instead they recklessly spent an incredible amount of guaranteed money because the fan base is craving the vicarious pleasure from the efforts of strangers and taunting the Longhorns.

"Get your licks in now." Isn't that what Jackie said? They are always saying that...

I would prefer that we never talk about them but here I am being sucked into the vortex. It is not a rivalry. The record says so.

As aggy will soon learn - $75 million paid in advance for 10 Years is the floor now for any new HC. The next one is going to want $80 million for 10 and so on.

    Aggy talking points:

    - SEC!
    - new stadium (built with oil money likely not to return, also the host of some awful lower division football opponents)
    - NC coach!

Every time anyone mentions historical record on texags (like how bad it is relative to Texas) they are drowned out and replaced with “next 5-10 years no one can hang with us, stop living in the past).

The come down is going to be hard if Texas goes to CFP before aggie, Jimbo fails or leaves, etc.

I've been curious about his contract for awhile so I looked up a couple of articles. The way I read it if they fiire him for not getting the job done he gets the full amount. If he leaves for another job he doesn't owe them a dime but they don't have to keep paying him. They didn't write him a check for 75 million. The boosters who put the deal together didn't get that rich by being that stupid.

Wasn't there an article a while back saying that Jimbo had not yet signed the contract after several months in CS? I assume you have to sign within some defined period but I don’t know.

He is renting a house in Miramont. It would be hilarious if Adams doesn’t invite him to buy a lot or a club membership.

That won’t happen, but I’m not sure Johnny Tyson ever let Beilema do either in Springdale.

It's A&M, they don't need no stinkin contract. Handshake is just fine. After all, Aggies don't lie, cheat or steal.

Or he could have a gentlemen's deal with the AD that he will join him in Baton Rogue after they gets rid of Ogre. Then in the mean time he will just bring in kids loyal to him and when it's time to leave he will release his top dogs to go where ever they want and he reals them into LSU where he starts his reign with a bunch of guys who know his system.

See without contract stipulations, he is free to do whatever the hell he wants and use the aggsy as a stepping stone like every other great coach has done.

Not every rich dude is smart, and most smart dudes are dumb when they are desperate. And aggsy were very desperate when they sold their soul to get Jimbo.

He does have contract stipulations. If they fire him before the contract expires due to failure to produe the desired results.he gets paid in full. You're right that not every rich person is smart. Only about 99% of them. What do you think the odds are everyone involved in hiring Fisher is one of the 1% ? We're talking about multl-millionaires and billionaires. Pretty sure they can afford some good lawyers. He can leave today if he wants to but the aggies won't owe him another penny. Which were my main 2 points.

I may have the wrong school, but one of the coaches who changed schools that offseason had their entire contract guaranteed, but the guaranteed money had to be paid by a certain date or the contract was annulled. I thought that it was Jumbo and aggy. This was around the time that the new tax rules went into effect which effectively made the contract worth $94 million as the tax was on the school and not the coach. The coach was penalized as tax wise he will be classified as a high wealth earner which will follow him to his grave regardless of his annual earnings.

I'm confused. The only reason the contract wouldn't get paid on time is the school diidnt pay it. I doubt a school can just not pay on time and get off the financial hook

You left out the part about desperate. And yes, you guys are desperate. Here is the thing about negotiations. either you are negotiating from a position of power, or a position of weakness. In this case you needed a named coach with a championship pedigree. He didn't need aggsy, but he forced you to buy him. He had all the power and as a result you paid whatever he wanted and sucked his shlong in the process.

Now he has a no lose contract and when he finds the right job he can ditch you and move along with a fat wad of cash in his pocket. Or he can take it easy knowing he just has to show up and he gets paid.

You see, you are powerless to make him do anything, he just has to be there and collect his pay check. And I'm pretty sure he is going to have a say in who the new AD is because if you fire him, your next coach will have to be a high school guy with a 200K a year salary.

Maybe the boosters inherited their wealth, and went to aggy (graduated is questionable) due to a lack of common sense and analytical skills to get into other schools. Yessir! They are financial wizards over there...

I have to take exception to a couple of things.

The Aggies were desperate to make a big splash, but the pool of coaches was basically empty, and those that were available the Aggies were afraid they would lose face.

Jumbo was already “out” at FSU. You could say he had circled the wagons, but he didn’t have enough support to get my grandson’s little red wagon. Everyone in football knew he was getting fired except the Aggies (not the administration) that hired him.

This is similar to the Joe Tiller hiring at Purdue, but with much fatter check books. Aggies won’t listen, but they could have gotten Fisher for $4 million a year plus bonuses

As for Fisher, Westwood, and LSU, you old timers remember Arnsbsrger and Archer? Westbrook and Fisher will be worse.

Be glad because the Aggie stupidity is almost worse than that if Bill Powers.

I just spent the weekend with an Aggie friend. I go to his lake house annually. He was going to come to my ranch annually until a different Aggie who really is a Billionaire who cheated his way to the damn top of the mountain by screwing people like me, got over on me and now I am starting over with a new business. I have had my fill of Aggie, thank you. I am just pissed today, and in no mood to hear about Aggie anything. I hate that school!!! So yes, there are Aggie grads that are billionaire's who cheat and lie there way up the mountain. Smart? Maybe, but who knows.

The Aggie I refer to probably paid 15% of Jimbo's contract out of his giant pocket. I know him, and he would rather climb a tree and lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. I may question why I go to the good Aggie's Lake House, but we are good friends and I can also say there are good Aggies out there. This guy has a big heart and is very nice, we help each other out. So there is a balance.

    Hook Em!

Oh and yes I had to hear some Aggie delusion this weekend too. :rolleyes1:

They appear glad that RC is the Interim AD. Hope they go 7-6 in 19'. That would make me smile.

Hmmmm. He may be puffing his way into self importance and wealth. I checked and could not find any aggy grads listed as billionaires. UT has 10, aggy 0. He may may be what is commonly referred to as a "$30,000 - billionaire" and is actually up to his eyeballs in debt, driving down his net worth to a miniscule (or even negative) amount.

Interesting since the poster( the one who is not an aggy) said there were billionaires, plural. Maybe he will provide a list?

That would be cool. Too many times, the lists of people of "high wealth" fail to account for encumbrances or debt against that wealth so that their net wealth is much lower. Then there land owners that are land rich, but cash poor. They don't want or don't know how to put the land to work for themselves and end up borrowing against it until they can pay the debt service fees and, many times, the property taxes. But they show and act as if they have money to burn.

What a big-time burn. So I assumed there might be a few aggie billionaires and was wrong. If I was worth a million even I'd be happy as clam. Are you suggesting only billionaires know what they're doing? Why did those 10 billionaires sign off on Charlie Strong? Why is it I've been here the better part of 18 years and never once been accused of being an aggie before today. Why did I post a couple of hundred photos on the 100 days to first game threads over the years? You want to talk longhorns football history sans internet access tell me when and where and I'll be there and humiliate your ***. We can sell tickets and donate the proceeds to charity.
