Fingers crossed the team shows up to play tonight or we might get embarrassed.

Regarding the article posted, David Hamilton would not have put a noticeable dent in the loss column this year. However I absolutely believe youth in the pitching rotation and lack of depth is killing us. Didn't Pierce have to bring back a catcher who was cut from the team at the beginning of the season?

I have a hard time understanding how elite level players can't seem to hit once they get to Texas. That to me has to be a break down in coaching.

I'm telling ya'. All it takes is for me to think something negative....

Moreland said Reynold's homer was over 425'

Horns blow three run lead in bottom of ninth. This season has hit new low.:brickwall:

Congratulations to Ty and his kids for knowing how to keep fighting and finding a way to win. They've now won 9 in a row and are second in their conference. I think they close their play out against conference leading Arlington State in San Marcos

Bad baseball around the 40 is not acceptable, maybe even less acceptable than bad football.
Wondering a bit about coaching to be honest.
Considering Roger probably had a lot to do with Kody hitting off the charts....

While disappointed, and even a little embarrassed, I can’t say I am surprised.

When he was hired, one could count the seasons in which Coach Pierce was a head coach at this level on one hand. Injuries happen. Slumps happen. How a coach handles these things is something that comes with experience. The Garrido’s and Gustafson’s of the world weren’t the legends they turned out to be in their 8th season as a head coach.

Is Pierce capable of righting the ship? Helping the players use this experience to become better for having gone through it? I hope so. Time will tell. :hookem:

    Fan,

While I am not on the "dump David" train, I am very disappointed. That said, just a little reminder that Gus won it all in his eighth year as a D-1 head coach.

I'm still on the Pierce bandwagon.

I think his first two years here were a notch above expectations; thinking he'd need time to put in his plans, get his players, etc.

And he got to a regional, almost a super in the first year, and then Omaha in the second.

Expectations may have soared a bit high based on that and what Texas does historically.

And then they roar out of the gates going 7-5 in two weeks against 4 top 10 teams and are looking like world-beaters. But they're still a real young team and well, **** happens.

Still optimistic they can even save something from this season, maybe a regional invite which would be 3 in a row in Pierce's first 3 years. Maybe.

I think he earned a bit of patience from his first 2 years here.

For sure. It's one bad year. Heck, it's only 1/2 a bad year, and we are not even done yet. Ease up, haters.

Doesn't it make everyone insanely angry when the football team loses and the excuse is youth? Does it not apply to college baseball?

    Zucker.

A couple of names for starters

    Greg Swindell
    Kurt Kripner
    Bill Bates
    Doug Hodo

Those four had pretty miserable freshman years, or maybe NOT

We aren't that young. Our general hitting is a problem at #230 ranking.
The good news is we can sweep West Va, as their hitting is even worse....but they do have great pitching.

We have many problems, but our bullpen is #1 IMO.
