“Well LJH's agent should be fired. Had LJH stayed records would crash, rings would be won, and he'd be drafted for sure much higher.”

Well, since he wasn’t drafted at all, this statement is a GUARANTEE....he FOR SURE would get drafted much higher!!:yippee:

Glad to see the free agent signings and hope they all make their respective teams, but has there ever been a worse draft for the Horns than this??

I have stated this in several past posts over the years. Undrafted kids (with eligibility left) that don’t sign an agent or take money should be allowed to return to their school with their eligibility in tact. I see no downside in making this rule change. As it is now, only the NFL monopoly (& agents) have something to gain....increasing their free agent pool. Give the kids that freedom of choice....it’s capitalism!

Yes, I think during the CS years we had two years that no Horns were drafted. I am not 100% sure but it was really bad.

LJH was told and ignored the advice - learning to live with your decisions is a life lesson. Actually, if you don't go in the first 5 rounds you are better off going UFA and choosing your situation.

Vahe to my Ravens. They need some quality lineman now that the Ravens play smash mouth. Vahe is a quality lineman with a lot of upside. He improved every year he was here.

I don’t recall that, but if so, that was on Mack Brown! We are still feeling the “Strong” pain of either lack of talent evaluation or setting the table for a loser culture....probably both!! TH made real progress last year, but a long way from loading the NFL with serious talent. He needs to take a giant step this season, but probably the 2021 draft is when we might see the fruits of his labor.

Not at all. These are Strong’s players. Look at our roster now. The number of Texas players drafted in the first two rounds will start to increase starting in 2020 with players like CJ and Brandon Jones.

We’ll see but I bet some recruits hear “ how many went to the NFL” and it matters to them. They don’t even have to hear it they just notice. We had s good year and look what we got, they’ll notice I’m saying.
To clarify further, I think Johnson and Omeniho should have gone much earlier, bothers me they didn’t and yes, I do have Orange colored glasses.

If you aren't going in the first 3 rounds, what do you really have to loose by coming back another year. One reason we aren't getting more kids drafted is because they won't LISTEN to the experts. LJH had played 2 seasons at WR in his life. Work on his speed and route running and he gets drafted much higher. Kid has a ton of heart but lots of kids have that. He needed to up his skills and his speed. Drag routes across the middle aren't going to net 10+ yds in the NFL.

Unless you are top tier talent, getting kids to stick for 4 years and get bigger, stronger, faster is key to the college team, but also key to their future.

And they all bought into Coach Herman, taking us to a win over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Would we have won that game without LJH?
All these guys gave their mind and body to this team.
I think LJH has a great opportunity with the Saints.
Good luck to all of them.
I bet most of them succeed at some level and Herman can point to them when recruiting.
There are quite a few UFA and low draft pick Longhorns kicking *** in the NFL today.

CJ and Jones will go 5th to 7th round if at all. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Oh well this team kicked OU *** in RRS with all that OU pro talent. Look at ATM, the bug eyed coach looks like he didn’t do much with all he had. But It’s all about college football not pros. Pros want different people. The Pros are a conveyor belt where they cut about 7 players from the 53, to make room for “new hype” rookies. Many times starters get cut the next year.
The league needs to build hype over substance to sell the circus.....Rg3, Manzeil, Murray, Mayfield, Sack artists, the combine, planned dances, ..the outlier seems to be Belicheck

You're welcome Here's a few more. Zach Shackejford won"t go in the first round. Sam won"t be in the draft at all, and man won't explore Mars. Uranus is another story.

    Guess we’ll see.

Regardless of how we do in the draft, what I really care about is Ws, and winning championships. Our roster is getting stronger. For example:

Name a team that will have a better back end threesome on D than Jones, Sterns and Foster. It’s a very short list.

Name a team that will have a better group of receivers — numbers and quality — then we will be putting on the field in the fall. Again, it’s a very short list.

Name five teams that will start a more talented, seasoned and more capable winning QB than Texas. I don’t think that you can.

We “may” not have all the prices yet to start winning championships but if not, we are rapidly moving in that direction.

So again, if we don’t dominate on the last Thursday of next April, I’m not sure that I will lose any sleep over it. But I do expect to have at least two players picked by the end of Round 2.

If we improve like I think we can, there's no doubt that Collin Johnson and Brandon Jones will be getting some serious looks. I'll go a step further and state that Shack, Wilbon, Roach, and McCulloch will start to get more pub as the season goes on and we end up something like 10-2. Maybe even Duvernay if he can supplant the freshmen trio for catches and big plays.

As for Humphrey, here's all the WRs from the "modern" NFL/AFL era who were drafted in the first 7 rounds, while LJ was not:
    Eric Metcalf
    Ray Poage
    Alfred Jackson
    Cotton Speyrer
    Everett Gay
    Herkie Walls
    Jordan Shipley
    Lam Jones
    Limas Sweed
    Marquise Goodwin
    Mike Adams
    Roy Williams
    Sloan Thomas
    Tony Jones
    Wane McGarity

Like I said before, there's something beyond the stats that he's missing. He put up better numbers than Megatron did his Jr. year at GT, but doesn't get drafted? I think the GMs, coaches, and owners know something about him that we don't.

Perhaps the speed issue, or lack thereof, and many of his yards were after contact and that will be harder to come by in the NFL?

I am betting on him doing well.

The NFL doesn't evaluate players based on team success.

I'm not sure Ray Poage ever caught a pass in college or with any of the three NFL teams he played for.

Ray was, however, a good enough RB that he was featured of the cover of Life magazine.

BTW, George Sauer, Jr was younger than Ray, and I believe the Jets drafted Phil Harris as a WR rather than RB or DB.
