That seems to be the consensus, but I don't totally agree.
Episode 1, was Dany and Jon trying to round up allies. Laying the ground work for the battle. It was so, so.
Epidsode 2 Was the build up to the big battle, lots of tension and waiting. Arya gets laid. It was ok.
Epiisode 3, The Long Night, was disappointing because you couldn't see half the battle. But, still I thought it was exciting.
Episode 4, was a downer with Missandei getting killed and the dragon going down.
Episode 5, I thought was exciting. It was a shame Dany went bonkers and razed Kings Landing, but I never thought GRRM was shooting for a Disney ending.
GOT has 80 minutes to complete the arcs of major characters like Jon Snow, Dany Targarian, Arya, Sansa, Tyrion, Bran, etc. Either the story arc goes full circle and we wind up with a mad Targarian on the Iron Throne, or a lesser character gets it. If they kill Dany, what do they do with Drogon? We'll see what they do. I suspect no one will be happy with the ending.
This show reminds me of the Lost TV series. They had so many loose threads that you knew they'd never be able to tie them all up. Most people hated the Lost finale. George R.R. Martin even made a crack about not wanting GOT's ending to suck like Lost. Of course, he was mostly talking about his books.
