Sug and Joyner are at the Team USA trials for the Pan-American games. Sunday night’s session will be streamed at 6:15 CT:
Joyner with 4 points in the first quarter, 2 on a dribble-drive and 2 on a baseline jumper. Still jogging up and down the court unless the ball is in her hands.
Joyner with 2 points in the 2nd quarter on 4 shots that I saw (buffering issues). When she gets the ball at the elbow there isn’t a big on the floor who can keep up with her on the drive for a layup.
4 in the 3rd quarter I think. She’s got to be leading the game in rebounds. Have been very impressed by Kiana Williams (Stanford G) and, in the 2nd half, Tea Cooper.
Joyner with another 4 in the 4th - could’ve had 6 more in the paint but still hitting the bottom 1/4 of the box too often on layups. She had a beautiful assist though after pulling down a board, took the ball up the court, pulled up at the FT line and fired a nice pass to an unguarded player under the basket.
Sug started and played the first 4.5 minutes, 1 point, 2 boards, 1 steal and 1 assist (should’ve been 3 but 2 missed layups).
Sug looking REALLY good. Another 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 points in the 2nd quarter. Announcer showing her all kinds of love, praising her court presence, vision and passing. Sug’s squad up 41-16 at half.
Hopefully this will be a positive outcome for both and it will propel them to be the senior leaders our team needs along with Lashaan.
Neither Sug nor Joyner made the team. Considering Joyner’s performance in the U19 Final a couple of years ago, I almost get her not being selected but leaving Sug off is absolute BS.
Wow ,when you look at some who were chosen ahead of them... should be some fuel for their motivational fires. I hope they'll channel it as such.
