I wish him the best of luck. He obviously has talent. However, not sure he would be good for the team or program despite individual performance.

I more than get it, he IS a 5 star... they dont grow on trees. I'm disappointed in this outcome but we are dealing with 18-19 year olds, sometimes emotional decision makers.

The good news we are loaded at WR, let's take a deep breath and move on to kicking LaTech *** in the opener! :hookem:

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I'm offended because you quoted a song by a bunch of weasels who couldn't decide if they were Jefferson airplane, Jefferson starship, or just starship. Make up your damn mind!

Probably still isn't over EPIC 15-14 loss to TEXAS in 1969 Game of the Century....

    OR

The last EPIC beat down of the Hawgs in Austin administered by COLT McCOY in 2008...i was there with Baoklahorn.

FINAL: 52-10 .... and it was not that close.

Hawgs wisely or cowardly canceled return series game in FayetteNam the next year.

For whatever reason this Mickey Mantle story comes to mind with respect to the Bru saga.

A phenom out of Commerce, OK, Mantle was struggling in the Yankees farm system. As I think the story goes, Mantle’s dad comes to see him and finds what we would describe as a snowflake today. Mantle is whining about how difficult the Minors is, and how he is struggling, not sure if he can make it.

Basically his dad tells Mickey to pack his bags because he’s going to take him back to Oklahoma, and that he thought he had raised a man, but apparently he was wrong. Message delivered. Mickey then begs his dad to let him stay, and the rest is history.

Too bad Bru doesn’t have that type of influence in his life.

In this “lawnmower” parent culture, Mickey’s dad type is a dinosaur and it’s a shame! Don’t get me started on this topic. The country club entitlement syndrome today is nauseating. I can promise you my dad would have taken Mickey’s dad’s approach.

One of my kid’s friends is Brendan Moore, who went to Westwood HS and played at MD as a starting O lineman for 4 years. He just signed with the 49ers. He committed to MD early, then other name brand schools got in on him late. He told me he had other choices & offers, but his commitment to MD meant he gave his word & wasn’t going back on it. Very rare indeed these days. That’s my kind of kid!

I’ll take a Brendan Moore any day over a Bru McCoy....homesickness is a lame excuse. Guess I’m just too old and too old fashioned!

I just watched that game recently.
Not sure how we overcame 6 turnovers to win that one.
    Down 14 - 0 going into the 4th quarter.
Offense basically played one quarter with 2 point conversion being the difference.
And the defense finally got a turnover.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, the rare and unnatural confluence of Starship songs and UT recruiting. If anyone could find and post that McWilliams era recruiting video featuring Hagy set to Starship music, I would be most grateful.

With all due respect, aggy can go fornicate themselves... Horns may have lost 1 5 star kid like this in 50 years - a WR.

Riddle me this, how could aggy lose not 1 but 2 4-5 star QB's in a span of 2 years!!!

IMHO, This staff does seem to have a high level of tolerance for head-case game playing by star recruits. (For better or for worse).

I'd say UT is back. If not, we're a whole lot closer than USC. USC is a great historical program, but they're a train wreck now and it may take a long time to fix the sorry mess they're currently in.

We did defeat USC last year you know...

Well, I guess it seems like it these days. Somehow I don't think the likes of DKR, Woody Hayes, or Bear Bryant would have much tolerance for the stuff many coaches put up with these days.

I'm thinking of the words Woody Hayes would have said to Bru McCoy, but the post would get deleted by the moderators if I typed them.

Of course not all coaches from an earlier era would be so hard on flaky players. Switzer would have just thrown a lot more $$$, hookers, and cars Bru's way to keep him in the fold. Maybe also arrange for a high paying cushy job and home in Norman for his family so he's not far from Momma.

I respectfully request you remove this post drawing attention to the biggest problem at Texas. It has NOTHING to do with "homesickness". Until someone backs the candy truck up, this subject is best left swept under that rug, which is so big it would cover The Tower.

    ?

    Really?

Like DKR "overlooking" his starting MLB getting drunk and throwing another student (not football player) down a flight of stairs at Moore-Hill?

Or maybe Woody Hayes taking a private plane to Coffeyville to try to straighten out a player he stashed there to "get his head right"?

It all depends how good/great the player is.

I really like Cliff Gustafson's reply, when a highly ranked recruit from California told Gus he was going to withdrawal his commitment and pray about his final decision with his parents.

Gus - "I'm going to pray about it too. I'm going to pray that God forgives you for lying to me".

Let’s see what he says (and what the sheep loving idiots down the road say) when Texas is selected as one of the four playoff teams in early December. Early December 2019.

Yep, I said that and I believe it.

Bru’s a snowflake and as others have alluded, we probably dodged a bullet. And what a fool. Think about it. We have a Heisman contending QB who will likely get tons of media exposure, as will his offensive weapons. That would have included McCoy.

On the West Coast, with a rebuilding program, not many on the national level will even see Bru.

What’s telling is that USC fans at least, seem to be welcoming him back with open arms. I can’t believe his reinstatement won’t come with certain assurances. Because when Helton and his staff get fired, and they WILL get fired (especially if an Urban Meyer makes himself available) is Bru going to bolt again?

My question is "would Mack go after a guy like this in the first place (who seemed wishy washy on his commitment)?" I would be certain Mack wouldn't have flown to Cali with an entourage to try and persuade the kid to stay. What say you??
