Thanks. This will definitely speed up the game. I get so frustrated when the team takes forever setting up plays.

Disappointed that this is our game for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge as we have played Tennessee every season for like the last 30+ seasons, and would have again this season regardless of the challenge:

Agreed. I was hoping we'd get another SEC team for this game.

Agree y'all. Our nonconference schedule is disappointing.

OR play Tennessee twice, once for our typical nonconference game and another as part of the Big12/SEC Challenge.

It’s funny that you never see Shea Routt in any of these clips? And she is a local girl. I see 2 bigs on the other end of the court. One is Charlie and I can’t tell the other? Her picture is still on the roster page for the 2019-2020 season which is up to date with all the new people. July 12 is registration for second summer semester. Should have most everyone here by then.

Ashlee Hannan will play in the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, held in Bangkok, Thailand from July 20-28 so assume she will not arrive until Fall semester. That could put her a little behind. But these Aussies are pretty tough.

I'm not trying to be negative, but the word "patchwork" always seems to come up in my head when I think of the coming season.

USA Under-19 begins training camp July 9 so Celeste will be headed to Colorado in the next few days and then on to Thailand. Also, I don’t think Isabel Palmer will be on campus in time for the second session. IIRC from the article about her injury/surgery, she’ll rehab in Australia and then move to Austin in early August.

Any guesses of immediate eligibility for this 2019-2020 season?

I'd guess better than 50-50 she's eligible. Penn State went through a head coaching change and the NCAA has been relatively reasonable when it comes to granting those waivers.

The team working out yesterday. And for those that were wondering where Shae Routt was she makes an appearance.

The Aussies are here! Assuming that means they are enrolling for the second summer session staring this week.

Smart move by Baylor to sign DeGrate. We are in need of depth at the Post position next season. I assume there must not have been mutual interest between Texas and DeGrate because we could have provided her with more playing time than BU (imo).

As much as it pains me to recognize it, Baylor has had a great off-season by adding key transfers to bolster their program.

Meh, we certainly could have used another big and she might have even started for us but I think for Baylor adding Cooper is a bigger deal.

I hope this translates to games. I’d feel slightly more positive about the upcoming season.

    2019-2020 Schedule Update:
The Rainbow Wahine Showdown participants have been set - Texas, NC State, Hawaii and North Texas. Texas vs:
    • Nov 29 - NC State
    • Nov 30 - North Texas
    • Dec 1 - Hawaii
NC State should help the non-conference SOS - they will probably be ranked somewhere in the teens heading into the season despite losing their best player, Kiara Leslie, who led the team in scoring, rebounds and steals last season. She was drafted in the first round by Washington.

Trivia: 2 Texas schools whose home courts are 225 miles apart will each be travelling ~3,700 miles to play a game in the middle of the Pacific.

DeGrate is from Waco and played with Landrum in HS that is part of the reason she ended up at Baylor.

They look pretty tough ! Looks like they are missing Celeste, Esmery, and Jada? Appears Esmery will not be in Austin until the fall semester begins?

With the picture of them all posting:
    1) top left is Hannan, for sure
    2) second from top left is.....Routt - which nothing is known as to her condition, but enough to box?
    3) bottom left is......Ortiz? And then bottom right is Isabel

Looks like Underwood, Taylor and Martinez not there that day.

I don’t think it would be going out on a limb to say Ashlee Hannan won’t be playing in the World Cup. Australia opens pool play Saturday at 12:15 (00:15 CT) against Team USA. It would require some crazy travel to get there and be ready to play considering the jet lag alone - Thailand is 12 hours ahead of Austin time. Celeste and Team USA travelled to Tokyo 3 days ago, I’m assuming to avoid any travel fatigue. Celeste in the bottom left photo.

Analytics is also something I hope that Coach Aston and her staff have embraced. Her hoop stats.com has a great website focused on WCBB analytics. You either adapt or get left behind.

It’s official - FIBA posted the final rosters for the World Cup and Ashlee isn’t on Australia’s. She’s probably going to get quite a few more minutes this season than I thought on signing day so it’s very good she’s on campus, practicing with the team, but it had to be very hard withdrawing from the Gems.

Woe to the team who starts a bench-clearing brawl with this bunch!
