Day One sees Tech lose to Michigan and Florida State continue to cut a swath through the heart of the SEC as they beat piggy 1-0. This FSU team went to Athens and beat 4 seed Georgia in the regionals, then went to a super in Baton Rouge and beat 13th seed LSU and now has win in Omaha over 4 seed Arky. Tech's loss is disappointing as I thought they could really do some damage but errors cost them. Tomorrow the favorite Vanderbilt gets started and frankly they are best team left playing so its theirs for the taking.

This is the FSU’s coach last year.

Darn. I was hoping Louisville could take that side of the bracket. I'd be pulling for Tech tomorrow anyway, but sending Arky home would be extra-special.

Auburn's bullpen implodes and gives up 4 in the bottom of the ninth to lose. A sadly all too familiar scenario for Texas fans this year. Vanderbilt is by far most complete team in Omaha and it will take something special for one of the other seven to beat them twice.

Tech eliminates piggy 5-4 to advance in the losers bracket and that guarantees there will be one non-SEC team in the championship series.

Ark did TTU a huge favor by not bunting in the 9th with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. After 1 out, they still did not bunt to move the runners over. I am still scratching my head over that decision.

Michigan continues their surprising run with a win over Florida State and they will have two chances to make the championship series against the winner of Tech-FSU. B1G representing that it actually plays a little baseball during hockey season up north.

Their bullpen didn't blow the game. The error by the 3rd baseman caused it. He over threw a ball to first base while deciding to not tag the runner headed to third base, the runner ran right past him on his way while he had the ball and shuffled by him to make the throw.

Its triple header day in Omaha as they make up for lost day yesterday. Louisville beats Auburn in completion of elimination game that started yesterday and the Cardinals advances in losers bracket to play loser of game later today between Vadny and Mississippi State. Evening game is FSU-Tech in an elimination contest.

Vanderbilt wins and so does Tech. One national semifinal is set with Michigan-Tech and the Wolverines having the two to win one advantage. The other semi has Vandy and the winner of today’s Louisville-Mississippi State game, with Vandy having the two to win one advantage.

I'm pulling for TTU but I don't like their chances. Until late in the game last night, they did not have a hit with RISP at the CWS. FSU outdid them by going thru all 3 games without one. Michigan seems to be very good and advancing runners.

It still doesn't seem right to have a College World Series without the Longhorns.

Tech has already beaten Michigan three times this season, so it would seem Michigan is not head and shoulders better than them.

Texas swept then #1 LSU and took 2 out of 3 from Tech, but it's not about how teams were playing in April, it's how they are playing now. Right now, TTU is having a real hard time advancing runners.

Louisville with late inning comeback beats Mississippi State and the National semis are now set for today with Vandy and Michigan having advantage of the two to win one edge.

I would argue Tech is in the final four at the College World Series so they must be playing just fine. Not saying they will win two and advance but I bet they have as good a shot as anyone to advance.

Food for thought, Tech has won as many games in Omaha in the last 72 hours as aggy has in their entire history.:smile1:

Tech gets blown out by Michigan and the B1G has a a team in the championship series of baseball. Before the tournament began, I would not have put any money on the B1G having a team in Omaha let alone the championship series, but the Wolverines have proven to be a really good tournament team and they deserve to be in the finals.

Vanderbilt beats Louisville and national championship series is set without a second game for either semifinal. Vandy has been best team all post season and they certainly go into series as favorite though Michigan certainly has the feel of a Fresno State/Coastal Carolina kind of story.

What was the kid from Louisville thinking cussing, and disrespecting Vandy? Top of the order coming up in the 9th? Stupid!
What was the coach thinking sticking with him? Even after the walk?
    Inexcusable.
I can’t stand watching Vandy, even after they banned the whistler dude.
    Fingers crossed for Michigan

Vandy is incredibly mouthy, has been for years. They wanted in Smith's (??) head and managed to get there. Trash talking has been part of HS & college baseball since before you or I was around. Vanderbilt is not a group of "privileged private school kids with good manners".

I have a strong dislike for what Vanderbilt has become in all sports since attaining a little success, BUT the Michigan fanbase just won't let me pull for them or anything BigTen.

Thanks Sabre. I had no idea Vandy chirped so much, though I’m not surprised.
Makes sense now how his emotions overflowed.
I probably would have acted the same, or worse.

Michigan is just getting hot at the right time and playing a bit over their talent level, IMO. I am pulling for them.

Michigan takes games one and has two to win one advantage. Vanderbilt lost game one of their super to Duke and the next pitcher up for Vandy threw a no hitter and their third pitcher shut Duke down the next night as well so even with advantage Vanderbilt still has two power pitchers for next two games and I would still give them advantage for each game. But as I wrote earlier, Michigan sure has the Fresno state/Coastal Carolina kind of feel even with it being Michigan so maybe the Cinderella run gets the slipper tonight and not the pumpkin at midnight.
