I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I can see where someone might think he will never play again. So you were proposing a way for him to remain active in the program.

Thanks. Humor is a slippery thing sometimes. I do hope Derrian comes to Austin and has a fun college experience, and gets to connect with the football team. That’s all.

    Excerpt from the article:

“Recovery is going well,” Brown said. “I’m progressing day-by-day, and it’s going very well. I’m just excited to get back out there and do what I have to do to get to this team and work.”

While football should be the last thing on his mind, Brown still has aspirations of getting back on the field and eventually suiting up for the Longhorns. Texas head coach Tom Herman commented last month that Brown playing football again is ‘not off the table.’

"Two members of Texas’ third-ranked 2019 signing class are dealing with major medical issues, and it appears those issues are trending in opposite directions.

On Saturday, Tom Herman revealed that 4-star linebacker signee De’Gabriel Floyd will miss at least the entire 2019 season with spinal stenosis, an issue that could end up ending his college football career before it starts. Meanwhile, Derrian Brown, a 4-star running back signee from Buford, Ga., has spent the last two-plus months in the hospital after suffering a stroke, which tests revealed to be caused by a blood clot in his brain.

Brown has been progressing since February, and on Saturday Herman revealed that the player was scheduled to be released from the hospital, with designs on attending his team’s spring game.

“Just talked to his dad yesterday. He had a procedure to put back a piece of his skull that they had removed to alleviate some pressure, and that went well, from what I understand,’ Herman said, via Burnt Orange Nation. “He was supposed to be released [from the hospital] yesterday.”

“He’s trying to get cleared to come to the spring game, I know that,” Herman added. “Physically, they say he’s doing really well. He’s still having a few minor issues with speech, but they’re all very optimistic that that will come with time. And they’re, as of now, optimistic that he’ll have a chance to play football again.”

Attending the spring game, scheduled for Saturday night, would be a major step forward for Brown and undoubtedly the highlight of the event."

"One hit" applies to every player on the field.
    It's a violent sport.
I do hope he is medically and physically as 100% as any other player on the field.
He won't play until 2020 if at all.
A good amount of time to heal and prepare.

I am pulling for this young man so hard. He is the most courageous guy I have ever seen put on a Texas uniform.

Well, at least he gets grounded in his new environment, continues to heal and be medically monitored, and perhaps works on his strength and conditioning.

Freshman academics is tough enough by itself, so I hope this provides him with a head start. I would assume a medical exemption would be in play also beyond his red shirt year.

What’s the latest on Derrian? Is there a chance that he plays in 2020?

Don't see doctors clearing him to play football. Odds are he will announce retiring like Floyd did. Just a matter of when.

Probably same last thing you heard, but....back in August.. was he is progressing well, dont count him out, and wouldn't be surprised to see him in 20. That was from Herman...
