Of course they did. The MSM protects the Antifa like the South protected the KKK during reconstruction and afterwards.

Pre-cable, I know that network newscast were a big revenue loser. Always was. The costs were huge with bureaus/staff all over the world and there was no way for them to ever get close to even a revenue neutral model. But they accepted that it was part of the deal with their free over-the-air band.

Cable news changed things. I've read several books about the creation of CNN, plus a couple by or about Ted Turner. CNN barely survived financially. It was touch-and-go on more than one occasion. But it eventually became profitable, proving the 1970's vision by Turner and Reese Schonfeld correct.

However, I suspect that CNN has again become a big revenue loser for ATT/Warner, in the same way network news used to be big money losers for the Big 3. But the reasons are different this time. And it does not have to be that way. There is an open spot in the middle for a legitimate news service. CNN is positioned well to take this spot and regain their fair share of the market. And I admit I was so dumb as to think this is what ATT would do once that merger was final -- fire Jeff Zucker, dump the over-the-top news bias and get CNN profitable again. I was wrong, they didnt. These people are willing to let shareholders continue to foot the bill just so they can get the news out that they want out, while putting an embargo on the news they dont want out (like this antifa fire bomber story). I would argue this is probably Board malfeasance. Hopefully some day some shareholder suits will bring the light of day to what they have been doing and why.

The Tacoma Antifa terrorist planned his attacks meticulously.
He was not "attacking the parking lot." He knew the overnight shift was changing, and planned to ambush and kill those walking to their cars.
Luckily they saw him and were able to call Tacoma PD before he attacked. This is what saved their lives.

And that is exactly the campaign approach he should use. The democrats have said all the words he needs to say. Let them say it in his campaign ads.

The announcement, intended or not, got the democrats taking a 180 opposite position and giving instruction on how to avoid Law Enforcement. As good as this worked out....His inability to shut his mouth screwed it with the "squad". We had Pelosi and AOC squabbling and AOC calling Pelosi a racist. It couldn't have been much better for GOP messaging....IF...the big mouth could have kept his own mouth shut. He took the internal bickering and name calling that the dems were doing and somehow got them back on task and focused on calling him a racist. This dude keeps shooting himself in the foot. He could have made a lot more progress if didn't have to shoot his mouth off all the time.

Democrats were beginning to grow weary of AOC & her posse. Now they have to come to their defense. Trump made martyrs of them. Aaarrgghh!

I even heard that Trump's poll numbers were up 4% to 50% approval rating. I think the majority of Americans are not nearly as in love with open borders as the Left would like to believe.

It's clear what the majority of voters want with regard to the Southern Border. Yet our politicians refuse to give it to us. Enough of them are either owned by big money or controlled via some type of blackmail to keep anything from being done. The situation is retarded.

I still can't understand why there is not more support/talk about E-verify by this administration.

I have always viewed that as an attempt by the Govt to shift the burden of their Constitutional duty to protect the national borders onto the people themselves. As time goes by, I find myself hating them more and more for this cheap trick. If they dont want to do the job, then they should withdraw and let someone in office who is willing to do the job.

Because they want the talking point as a political topic for 2020. There is also the fact that Trump Inc. settled lawsuits in the past with regard to using illegal labor. If he went after companies his businesses would be at risk.

We already outsource hundreds of government task to private employers. State vehicle inspections, payroll tax collection, all sorts of stuff. This function being placed at the site of employment would be the cheapest and most effective solution.

Companies need a system like e-verify to quickly get a citizenship determination. Unfortunately, only the companies that want to play by the rules are using the system.

The business community fights it like hell. If you're a business that hires or relies on illegal alien labor to hold your costs down and/or avoid unionization, e-verify is the last thing you want. Those companies get by on the "I'm stupid" defense. E-verify effectively takes that off the table.

I dont have a strong position about E-V. However, I do have a strong conviction protecting the international borders it is one of the federal govt's most basic legal duties. This goes beyond the US Constitution and applies to all countries. Without it, you undermine one of the core reasons for having a national government in the first place. This is the side of E-V that ticks me off. It is not E-V in and of itself, it is that our federal Govt is either unable or unwilling to perform one of its most basic duties and instead, seeks to shift this burden onto the people. To do it for them. Because the are lazy and weak. This is what is fundamentally wrong about E-V. I oppose it for this reason. They need to do their own job and stop trying to get someone else to do it for them.

Well, if the government is not going enforce their own borders then maybe that points to the illegitimacy of that government. Maybe we should erect an alternative system that is more local and more privatized.

If you are an individual and try to do something about it, they will arrest you. They are pretty quick to do that.
Even if you are an entire state and try to do something about it , they will sue you in federal court. And they are pretty quick to do that too.
But the power does lie in the Executive Branch to act on this. IMO, if Trump does not win a second term, this failure by the Executive Branch to act on immigration and what is happening at the Southern Border will be the primary reason (assuming no intervening event unforeseeable at this time). I think it is possible some of the same voters who pushed him over the line in key states in 2016, wont have the same motivation in 2020 simply because of this one issue. It has completely overtaken the failure on Obamacare as an issue. But, as with all things, we will see.

Sort of like having people here argue that there was no crisis on the border and that Trump is lying about it. Afterwards, after the evidence is overwhelming and the MSM quits lying, now claim there is a crisis and it's Trump's fault. You can't make this **** up.

~40k = ~100k? The earlier number was the volume of cross-border apprehensions when this debate started on the board which historically was fairly average or slightly above average. They were trending downward. Then comes the actions and rhetoric of Trump. Those are the facts whether you admit it or not.

They became somewhat high during Obama's time in which he also called it a crisis. Eventually it fluctuated downward. It fluctuates up and down in cycles, usually depending on the economy. They went up again when foreign nationals saw the economy was booming and came here looking for work. Did Trump's rhetoric add to it? Possibly some but it wasn't the biggest factor. However, you're full of **** when it comes to the timing. You were saying that there was not a crisis even when Trump and border patrol were saying there was one(facilities getting full). Like the MSM you did a 180 when the lie couldn't hold up and then proceeded to blame Trump for it.

Edit- The ultimate fault of what's happening are the illegals themselves and not any politician's.
