Why dont we have the All Star Game on July 4th? It's closer to the midpoint of the season than the current system Its as American as apple pie and Chevrolet
Agree but always remember money talks the loudest. MLB's push back would be: a) no one is inside watching TV on 04 July (money talking); b) scheduling the game on a Tuesday allows for easier scheduling (a false argument now that the schedules are generated by computer); and c) no f**king way are we going to give Joe Fan credit for a great idea.
I think it would be a huge audience - especially if it became a tradition. All-Star Baseball on the 4th of July! Fireworks to follow I get that alot already
I think the game would sell out (doesnt it always?) and the tv audience would also be large - I think its the perfect day for it, with everyone off work If you are home watching TV on July 4th evening, would you rather watch the orchestra play on the national mall or all-star baseball? Maybe an early start so it finishes in time for everyone who wants to also see the fireworks has time to go do that too? Plus, depending what day of the week the 4th lands, workers often have the preceding/succeeding day off as well (perhaps both) which might help boost the ratings of other events - futures game and/or HR derby Is this really a horrible idea? Maybe it is, and I am just missing it Baseball clearly thinks the timing would be awful, but I think it would be perfect
The Peacock Family showed up to the Josh Reddick family 4th of July pool party with .... a peacock float
Jose Altuve reached 1500 hits yesterday and did it in less games than any Astro ever. At the same point in their careers, Altuve has 10 more hits than Pete Rose. Altuve's run to be the greatest Astro player ever continues apace.
