So let students with an average of two years vested in The University of Texas, and make no donations to the athletic department, decide for how many alumni (500,000?). Alumni who donate heavily for everything to include scholarships for students who don’t even attend games. Students who support statue theft and change the design of a class ring that has been a tradition for almost one hundred years. (For those of you who don’t know, the traditional ring design was trashed for the newer, ugly version. I was told by the holders of the mold that if you have the old style and lose it, you are out of luck because nobody can buy the old style. Alumni blocked.)

Until they earn and pay for a degree, and then partipate in a job to support themselves, I will treat them as students with no decisionmaking rights for university policy. Certainly no rights to decisions that impact former and future students.

Especially when the team who walked away wants to play again. Again what is in it for Texas to play aggy?
Recruiting - doesn't seem so (the issue is Alabama, Georgia, and LSU to some extent).
Lack of "big-time" opponents - No; Texas has no trouble scheduling big-time opponents; aggy avoids them.
Gains nothing by winning - Texas

From Tom Herman and Chris Del Conte. Have you not heard Herman pine for the game lately?

Ummm... it's UT coach Tom Herman and AD Chris Del Conte that want to play the game, not A&M.

There has to be something or else Belmont wouldn't be clamoring for it. So what could it be?

Seriously? That big time opponent you scheduled this year is a team we play EVERY YEAR! Additionally, we have #1 ranked, national champion CLEMSON on our schedule this year as well. Bag on A&M all you want but at least base it on some facts. ESPN's current preseason power index has the following teams ranked 1-4:

    1. Clemson
    2. Alabama
    3. Georgia
    4. LSU

A&M plays all four of them and three of them on the road.

MR I, was there ever a time when A&M wanted to play Texas again? I thought there was such a time right after the SEC leave..

Certainly. In 2011 when A&M announced its intention to change conferences the A&M brass were very much in favor of continuing the series. However, Dodds said the schedule was full and so no dice. So, 7 years later the shoe was on the other foot. The difference though is at that time I think a majority of Aggies wanted to continue the game. That's no longer the case now. Now the UT brass want the game but the A&M brass don't. I guess both fan bases got lucky that it didn't work out either time.

I think it's the best for everyone that we only play in a bowl game/cfp game.....I think that'll add to the "oomph" of the game...otherwise, it's like same old same old, which A&M left to go get something different, IMHO.....

Aggy should play Texas, Baylor and TT on a rotating schedule. Only then it be fair and acceptable.

What? Why should A&M have to play Baylor or Tech? Baylor and Tech owe A&M big time. If A&M hadn't tapped the brakes on the PAC 16 move in 2010 Baylor would be in Conference USA right now and Tech would be playing games on the west coast that don't start until 9:00 p.m. Central.

Both schools showed their gratitude by adding to aggy misery which eventually lead to their move to the $EC.

It's interesting that you would ask for thanks from Baylor and Tech yet you show no thanks for everything Texas has done for A&M (and others). Somebody's got to be the belle of the ball/show steer/etc. A&M went to the SEC for more $ and notoriety than they had, but what would their notoriety have been if not for Texas?

Thank you UT, for negotiating a change in conference on behalf of A&M without its consent. Thank you UT for giving A&M an ultimatum to join the PAC 16 within 72 hours or be left behind. Thank you UT for telling the Big12 schools that the LHN would only show one non-conference football game and a hand full of basketball games then trying to strong-arm two non-con games, a conference game, and recruits' high school games onto the network. Thank you UT for running off Nebraska and Colorado, making the Big12 a shell of its former self. Thank you UT for all you've done to make A&M's move to the SEC possible.

Yea we chased Nebraska and Colorado off because we kept beating the pants off them.
How has that worked out for them?

Hey now, there is much celebration going on in Collieville this year. It's the 20th anniversary of the last time the aggys won something. It's funny since today's recruits were seeds in their daddy's nut sack the last time aggy won a conference title.

I'm hoping I'm around when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of 1939 championship.

    Here is a fun thought.
    2019 - 1939 = 80 years.
    1939 - 1860 = 79 years
Your last national title is closer to the beginning of the Civil War than to today.

I'm curious if we should even count it since it's been made clear that college football didn't start until the aggys let girls on campus.

Actually, this is way overstated. No one is going to argue the Big 12 is as strong as the SEC, but if we're being 100% honest here (you won't but that's OK) the conference is doing just because

    - TCU has been every bit as competitive as Aggy, NU, or Mizzoo
    - WVU has been every bit as competitive as Aggy, NU, or Mizzoo
    - Losing Colorado has been addition by subtraction.

Then you figure in the recent success of Baylor, OSU, ISU, and KState... Aggy'd still be struggling as a 2nd tier team in the current Big 12, no doubt.
(and this doesn't even take into account programs other than football)
You'd have had a pretty good record against Texas though. I'll give you that. Too bad you bolted with your tail between your legs before you could get some licks in while we were down.

Sure, we are too small. I thought having 12 teams and 2 divisions was better than 10. But the demise of the Big 12 is way overrated.

Also, the SEC is a bloated conference. You all could stand to do some addition by subtraction as well. Then maybe you all could actually play a rounder schedule. Yeah, you play in a tough conference, but how often do you actually have to go play UGA or UF. Not often enough to point to them as rivals. And not enough to avoid a non-conference schedule with anything other than the Sisters of the Poor ...

If they did and A&M won it’d be because Georgia wasn’t ready or wasn’t into it...

Are you sure? If you read through this thread you'll see plenty of claims that the SEC is weak because they don't play 9 conference games. Seriously, the posters on this site think having to play Kansas every year is somehow different than playing Alabama-Birmingham.

Sure they've been competitive. They came into a conference that had been watered down with the loss of major programs and while one of the two remaining major programs was playing like dog-bleep.

Oooh, hiding behind Baylor's skirts! That's hilarious!

Umm... ok. Look at UT's home schedules. One marquee home game every other year. One! And that one is a non-conference game! Conferences are about competition and providing intriguing match-ups that fans look forward to seeing and storied venues that fans look forward to visiting. The Big 12 has none of that.

Every year we play Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama. Hell, UT is so jealous of A&M's schedule that for the next five years they will play three of those teams. But no, you're right, the SEC is bloated and there are just no good games.

Not when you know you're going to lose 9 out of every 10. But it might be interesting for us.

If the teams that were skipped every year were all a bunch of Kansas clones, then that would be a good point.

Only when using an agenda to define marquee while simultaneously leaving out that Texas and Oklahoma both willingly take fewer marquee home games to play one of the best yearly rivalry matchups in all of CFB.

The sec is all alabama, with only georgia being recently in the same ballpark. Who we dominated. Everybody else is just riding their coattails which sounds very familiar. Sure, alabama will lose once or twice every other year, but we all know it will be clemson and alabama in the final 4 again. aggy hasn't won a championship since 1939 but that doesn't count since they don't recognize anything once they became coed. Seriously, that's the lamest excuse of all time and no sugar coating that one. The heisman is a legit accomplishment for aggy, but other than that, TCU and WVU have exceeded anything done by cu, aggy, and nu. While we were down, osu, baylor, isu, have been legit. Has anyone noticed that every average joe is being accepted to aggy? I guess they are just following suit in the sec with no academics.

    Jealous? of what?
    2018 - 9-4
    2017 - 7-6
    2016 - 8-5
    2015 - 8-5
    2014 - 8-5

Let me put this in a way you will understand.

You left the Big 12 because you were nothing more than the conference *****. Hell even Tech was bending you over. Now you are in a bigger conference and still the conference *****. Sorry we aren't impressed. You don't play Bama, LSU, etc. You get beat by them. Your recruiting has improved, but your record is the same. A ***** is a *****.

If you came back to the big 12 you would still be our *****. This is the real reason why you won't play us. If you lose, you will be reminded your place in this world. At least in the SEC you can feign greatness sort of like a chihuahua barking from behind the screen door, but when that door opens it runs and hides, because deep down, it knows, it's nothing but a Chihuahua.
