Out of 15 receivers that were utilized in NO's preseason game, LJH was leading receiver with 2 catches for 42 yards and a TD.
21 yards per catch not a bad average.

LJH ran through the defenders at the next level just like he did for the Horns. I think he'll catch on with the Saints.

To be fair, given it was the 4th quarter of the first preseason game, I'd bet most of those defenders aren't on an NFL roster come the regular season.

I have always believed that LJH will be a starter and a difference maker in the NFL. We’ll see. The League is obsessed with measurables and all to often can’t see the forest for the trees.

Not sure how it's going to shake out for LJ. But I'm definitely rooting for him.

This ^^^ may be true. But LJH was an undrafted free agent. And lets say the guys he ran through, around and over on the TD catch were late round picks, or undrafted. Then it looked to me like LJH was head and shoulders above those guys. Which in my way of thinking puts LJH on someone's roster. Maybe the third down back, not a starter at the beginning of the season, but on a roster.
So what I'm saying here is: I think the young man has a chance. :hookem2:

As long as I'm letting my fantasy for LJH play out....The Saints, in their final cut before the season opener, make a tough call and release LJH. The cowboys, due to an injury depleted receiver corp, pick up LJH the week before the opener. He plays in the opener.
LJH comes in on 3rd downs for the pokes and catches two passes, one for a TD. He looks good doing it, as always, because he bulls his way over the goal line for the winning score as time expires.

He goes on to become the next Drew Pearson, an undrafted free agent that becomes a great receiver, long career, and leads the pokes to their next Super Bowl win.

You have to admit, with Amari Cooper on one side and LJH on the other the cows would have a nice tandem. Cooper get's doubled a lot due to his speed. LJH would have a fair share of balls thrown to him due to single coverage. It could be good.

I have the same fantasy except LJH dons Titans' two-tone blue and catches the game-winning TD to defeat the Indianapolis Colts.

I only lol'd that you had the same fantasy for another team not that it couldn't happen.

He has probably shown enough that if NOLA cuts him someone will pick him up. Peyton is no dummy so LJH has that going for him. However, unfortunately, you cannot coach speed and speed in a WR is all the NFL is looking for at times.

Think about LJH getting cut, picked up by the Pats in an experiment to see if a large Welker works. LJH goes on to make ProBowl six times and makes me pull sometimes for the Pats.

Is that a dream or a nightmare?

NE pays attention to everything and everyone. I guarantee you they saw that clip; watched the entire game for perspective, and filed it away under "if the current team is stupid enough to let this kid go we offer a lot and quickly".

But he can't get open in the pros....I seriously think the NFL is full of morons. Starting with the Texans.

Jones hatred of Texas blinds him. He'd rather pass on a Horn and lose than sign one and win.
History shows that. How many has he signed in his decades of ownership?

My guess is that he eventually becomes a flex type tight end similar to Jermichael Finley, although Finley was a little bigger playing around 235-240 lbs., and is a match up nightmare.

Yep, ^^^ NFL scouts do miss occasionally.

Drew Pearson, one of the all time great Cowboy receivers, was an undrafted free agent. We all know he had a great career, including pro bowls. Also, he was undrafted because he was thought "to be too slow, and undersized." Sound familiar?

LJH is slower than optimum. But he is a big receiver who will abuse many smaller corners; has fine hands, and gets above average yards after catch.

Plus, he is a good person, good in the locker room, will not be a head case (Dez Bryant). His pluses outweigh the speed issue.

Of course, all this is said looking through heavily orange tinted glasses.

    mb227 de Plorable

Remember that multiple reasons abounded for why a player like Pearson was not really in the draft mix, starting with playing for a smaller school that had a run-oriented offense at the time. He ALSO did not play receiver for all four years. In the college career, he barely cracked 1100 yards receiving on just over 50 catches. Awesome per-catch number, but meaningless in the pre-ESPN era where only the big schools routinely got air time...

THEN...he signed for special teams play, only being cast in the receiver role through injuries.

It all worked out well in the end, but it shows the hurdles that exist for LJH...stars will have to align for there to be a similar storybook ending...

mb is correct. As an undrafted player, he is basically a walk-on. He will have to prove himself daily in order to stay on the roster.

I hate this argument. These people may disagree with you:

    Leonard Davis 2007-2010
    Derrick Dockery 2011-2012
    Donald Hawkins 2014-2015
    Tony Hills 2014
    Wane McGarity 1999-2001
    Henry Melton 2014
    Geoff Swaim 2015-2018
    Duke Thomas 2017-2018
    Kalen Thornton 2004-2005
    Bryant Westbrook 2002
    Chris Whaley 2014-2015
    Connor Williams 2018- present
    Roy Williams 2008-2010

    Did I miss someone?? Probably...

Can we agree that Jones is blind?
Blinded by his giant stupid ego, Not sure he hates longhorns but he is still decidedly bad at drafting and team building.

i'd like to call him a douche and a bad football guy. but they now have a football guy that has been drafting like a football guy the last few years. Will McClay is worth his weight.

for some reason EVERY team didn't draft LJH. speed. fantastic football people did NOT draft LJH. I hope he proves them wrong. i think he will.
