Our 1969 team won the NC in football. Does any one know if LHN is going to do a documentary about them like they did the 1963 team? I hope so.

I'm excited about a documentary on that incredible team and season. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Wrote a long post about those times & season back in my early years on HF. A lot of posters weighed in with their memories. Wish I could figure out how to retrieve it...

My plate has every signature from that 69' team. It's weird the guy I bought this from that owns the antique store broke up with his girl friend who was our connection to him. That was not long after I bought this from him. It was like God wanted me to have this. If I find anymore old plates like this I will buy them and give them to whoever wants one from Horn fans. Last week I was in New Braunfels and saw some old Beer Mugs from that era but no signatures on them.

Apparently, the big shootout was voted the "greatest game in Texas history" a number of years ago. Bill Montgomery the Arkansas quarterback supposedly told Frank Broyles, "Coach, it's too bad we didn't win that game." Broyles said, "Don't you see Bill. if we had won it wouldn't have been voted the greatest game in Texas history."

Iconic photo of a game I attended with my late Father. Unfortunately both player and coach in the photo are gone but certainly not forgotten:

Linda Kaye took that photo. She was an outstanding sports photographer. And as it happens, I am in that photo. I was sitting with my parents and sister just a few rows in front of that post holding up the scoreboard.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Campbell at my job several months ago. Very nice man who still wears his NC ring!

LHN is showing the premier on Friday, Ausust 23rd at 7 P.M. CST and it is called 1969. Afterward it will be shown again and you can consult your tv guide for the other. I plan to watch it but as a precaution I have set my tv recorder.

    Thanks, Bill!
Always loved the 1963 documentary ; thought it was the best thing Longhorn network ever did, and was on the first time I got to watch Longhorn network on Time Warner!

At a baseball game at Rice about 10 years ago I was in the bleachers standing about 5 feet from Street. Didn’t know it till the last inning or two when the stands emptied out. Looking very cool in a wool overcoat. Had that Namath mystique. Making those plays was no accident.

I saw him at a cafe or restaurant probably 30 years ago in Austin, and blurted out loudly "James Street!?!" He smiled and said, "Yes, sir?" I realized that I sounded pretty foolish, so i just said, "Sorry, just an old fan." He smiled and continued on his way.

LHN has been playing the arkie & Nutre domer game ... Bill Little commentating and various players.

I liked Andrews' comment on the Street-Peschel ... "we're gonna throw the ball?"

I'd forgotten about the Nixon plaque disappearance. The guys commenting on that was pretty funny, too.

I just realized what I stumbled into the other night is what's advertised above. Now I'm set to record later today!
