2021 Recruiting - Football

Our LB recruiting has been a little confusing. It's hard to tell what Orlando wants. For awhile, I thought it didn't matter, that DeGabriel Floyd and then Justin Flowe were going to solve all issues. I was wrong on both counts.

Forgetting Tommy for a second, I'd take James in a second. don't care what his rank is, he has the right genetics to play this game. He is like our version of one of the Matthews brothers. You can't teach good genetics.

 

Does anyone know if the twins have committed to attending the same school? Given who their dad is and their older brother is already a walk on it would really suck if they didn't go to Texas. I guess I could stand losing them to somewhere like Stanford or Northwestern on academics, but anywhere else would completely suck. I doubt SEC $ will influence them either.

I really want all 3 of those guys. I'm surprised Jackson wasn't in the top 10 he dominated at the 5'star challenge.

" ... Sanders had a relatively quiet summer when it comes to visits, but he said that Texas and Texas A&M are the two schools really standing out right now. Sanders said that Texas defensive line coach Oscar Giles and defensive coordinator Todd Orlando are the two coaches he speaks with most. Sanders said he has an idea of where he wants to end up and a decision could come as soon as mid-fall. He didn’t give much away, but I think Texas holds an edge here. Sanders stated in the past that he grew up a Texas fan and his entire family are fans of the Longhorns. He also has Bowman in his ear at Ryan and there are some pro-Texas staffers on the coaching staff, including former Longhorn Alex De La Torre. The coaches there aren’t pushing any of the kids, but I’d bet he hears pretty positive reviews about Texas on a daily basis."​

 

Inside Texas now thinks 2021 WSDE Landon Jackson (6'6,240) from Texarkana is leaning our way. He is now a 5-star in the 247Comp (high 4-star by 247 itself).
aggy had been considered the favorite but word is they started pushing him too hard and he didnt like it. He liked us early, then momentum seemed to shift to aggy and Alabama. But now it's swinging back. For better or worse, it sounds like Orlando is directly handling this one.
People have been saying for a while that he is tied at the hip to teammate 2021 DT Marcus Burris, who seems destined to be an aggy. We will see.

 

247's Mike Roach CB to Texas for 2021 DE Ja'Tavion Sanders. He is potentially a 5-star in the future.

There's not a lot of 2021 in-state DB options after Bowman(DB or slot), Coffey, Ibraheem and McCutchin (already Alabamed), which gives Tony Grimes (Virginia Beach, VA) added significance
