On WRs, IT did a write-up on Johnston, with this line --

"The staff needed one of each receiver position: a boundary, a slot, and an explosive athlete to the field. Now they just need the first two and there may be an exciting development on that front."

That #Milroe is interesting, isnt it? A 2020 mentioning a 2021 in his commitment announcement. I dont think Ive ever seen anything like that ever before. It's quite a statement really.

And it did not go unnoticed

One has to think that Latrell Neville is in heavy #2 pencil on the commitment list. He wants to be at Texas.

    Maybe this guy?
High 4-star from Rockwall who commited early to tOSU

And then maybe LV Bunkley-Shelton in the slot?
Here are the ratings for these three WRs per the 247 Comp
    #10 WR overall Jaxon Smith-Njigba 0.9701
    #13 Quentin Johnston 0.9680
    #34 LV Bunkley-Shelton 0.9232

I saw his video. Appears to have the intangibles to lead. We are stacked at QB moving forward though we need Thompson some reps this year.

I think you have seen Herman's board.

I wonder if the staff is asking Mookie and Wilson if they are really certain about their commitment? Do not forget Demas either. He's probably wondering if he really wants to be the only good guy in the receiver's room at aTm.

The two 3 Stars should be noted as real diamonds. Vastly underrated, full of potential development to a very high ceiling.

    Herman wins on evaluation, again.

If we flipped him from aggy the meltdown on texgomers would be epic.

Completely agree. I like all 4 of our OL recruits, but IMHO, Karic is the best prospect. Rivals and 247 regard him as the worst (for now at least).

Van is freakishly strong and powerful for his size and has some tricky moves when pass rushing.

And the killer is he is 16 or just turned 17. His first game as a senior was interesting as he was always double teamed by some large Polynesian OL. The one time he wasn't he laid the QB out for a team INT.

We own the dog days of Summer. Not Georgia, MSU, UW, A&M, or any other dog team. Bevo sent the message to UGA in January. :cow:

Herman & Co. probably caught some people napping during their "summer" vacation. To bad!

Sorry in advance for retreading old ground, but what's the latest on how many we can take in the 2020 recruiting cycle?

It's the same it been, I think 20 to 22 or 23. We currently have 17.

Inside Texas today said they think we will now take 4 WRs instead of 3, as has been assumed for some time. Which could mean a couple different things. The only 2020 WR we presently have committed is QJohnston. I was thinking land Shelton and Hester and we shut it down. But maybe this is a sign we think we really can flip Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Or maybe Cooper, Demas or Wilson?

Hmmmmm. I didn't expect that many more WR.

I would think we still have space for Alfred Collins if he wants to come onboard--it's not a need position, but with his level of talent it's tough to say no.

Is Ty Jordan still on the radar for a multi-purpose 'scat' back athlete? IMHO, after watching some film, he's more than just a "poor man's Mookie."

Yes on both Collins and Jordan - who is more of a RB (my analogy is Darren Sproles) than slot like Mookie
And on WR, it might also mean we know we may have an extra spot there.

I hope we get Ty Jordan. He's versatile, and I could see him in a number of positions where he would create match up problems. Sort of like Jake Smith.

I suspect his height/size is pushing his ratings down. Tech used to take guys like this, put them in motion, and kill us. And with our thin RB depth, it's good to have guys like Jordan and Hullaby who could play RB (along with other skill positions).

    Is this a Ransom reference?
That would probably be the end for several sofas if we land all 3 of Bijan Robinson (who they thought they had), + Ranson and Smith-Njigba (both of whom they do have)

    We are at 17. Add these 5 = 22
CB Josh Eaton - should be the end of this week
APB Ty Jordan - this month
DL Alfred Collins - dont know when
WR Javian Hester - dont know when
Slot WR Levon Bunkley-Shelton - might not announce until after his season is over and a great year by CJ wont hurt.. Plus there is some grumbling he has to get some academics in order

Which leaves flip candidates -- I would really love to pull White out of that swamp. And I like Rogers better than Eaton (but everyone keeps saying Eaton has huge upside)
WR Jaxon Smith-Njiba and S Lathan Ransom - tOSU
    CB Jahari Rogers - Florida
    LB Josh White - LSU
S Chris Thompson, Jr - Auburn
    S Bryson Washington - ou
    WR Johnny Wilson Oregon
CB Kelee Ringo Longshot U. (but with kind of mo we have, who knows?)
    RB Zachary Evans Mars U.

Here is what Inside Texas said about Rogers -
Jahari Rogers, Arlington (Arlington, TX) - FLORIDA: Because Rogers isn't a lock to sign with Florida I'm kind of surprised by the push for Josh Eaton but maybe they like Kitan Crawford and Ethan Pouncey and want to bet on Eaton's upside. If Texas didn't get in a hurry and stayed on Rogers I think they could make the recruitment interesting. They may not think the juice is worth the squeeze. 30%
