We could use Greenland as an area to ship all of our undesirables like Antifa and Neo-Nazi members.

More Bass on China -- If you dont already know, this is the advisor who took actual physical possession of gold on behalf of the UT System (fwiw, I think he went to TCU). That upset some people. He also saw the Greek troubles coming way ahead of time and so made money shorting Greece & CD Swaps, which pissed off a lot of Europeans (there is a pretty funny video of him on with some BBC gal who loses her mind on the air)

I have read that China's economy is weaker than they are showing for the last 5 years. It noticeably slowed in 2015 and hasn't really improved since. The leveraging Bass mentions has been common knowledge for anyone paying attention.

Japan had great economic growth until about 1990. The have been at more or less 0 growth since. China is generally following the same path. However, it won't be as obvious because Chinese media reporting won't be as honest.

A crushing blow to the hopes and dreams of America. I hope we can recover. Not sure how this advances Iceland, but to each his own.

Two points. First, she has said she had prior commitments. Second, she's a complete crackpot even by European standards. Even if it is a snubbing, there's no reason why we should care.

Co-worker suggests we swap Puerto Rico for Greenland, including assumption of debt. We need Greenland, and Scandinavia needs sun, warm water and rum.

China has lied to us about opioids, which kills a lot of Americans. I say hike tariffs until they cry uncle. Trump only going slow to give US companies time to mitigate the tariffs.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone willing to admit or at least consider admitting that pulling out of the TPP might have been a mistake? And before people run to their partisan corners, both Trump and Hillary opposed it in. 2016. If we had stayed in the deal, we'd likely have an easier time dealing with China.

That was my exact position at the time. China is not an ally. Their theft of our IP is particularly nefarious but their closed economy to China controlled companies isn't far behind. They need to be dealt with.

It was beyond stupid to pull out of the TPP while simultaneously taking on China. The TPP would have supported moving supply chains more quickly to other Asian countries.

Btw- This new talking point about China's influence on our opiod crisis is transparently political. Is Fentanyl produced in China making its way to US markets? Certainly. Should it be conflated with a trade war? Hell no.

What's scariest about it is that we basically pulled out of the TPP, because we were stupid. I don't mean that we had bad judgment (though we did). I mean that I think we generally didn't know what the deal was. I think most Americans (including Trump) truly didn't realize that the deal did not make it easier for China to rip us off. If anything, it did the opposite. And despite that obvious ignorance, we rashly pulled out.

Don't know enough about the details of the deal to know if it was a mistake or not. So, yeah, I'll blindly admit it might have been a bad choice.

Educate us on the specifics if you have time. I read some of the TPP and it looked like gibberish to me.

I admit it could have been a mistake. The problem was that all the details were made secret. Government opacity isn't a good formula for prosperity and freedom. There was reason to distrust it, even if it turned out a decent deal. Meaning, if politicians wanted it passed they could have proved how great it was by advertising the specifics.

Yes. If there was no market in the US, then there wouldn't be a problem. US leaders need to work on removing demand. If there is demand there will be supply.

I see the cement added after the wall erection, but what is the structure for the wall underground pre-concrete? I don’t see that part being installed. Granted it may be a simple ditch with a long pre-fab rectangular frame that was done before the video started.
