"... 78% of voters say that what reporters do with political news is promote their agenda. They think they use incidents as props for their agenda rather than seeking accurately record what happened. Only 14% think that a journalist is actually reporting what happened... If a reporter found out something that would hurt their favorite candidate, only 36% of voters think that they would report that.

"So voters are looking at them as a political activist, not as a source of information..."

The biggest difference isn't refusing to report on things, though that does happen especially near an election. The biggest difference is in how a story is spun.

For example, when Steve King makes a comment favorable to white nationalism, the story is, "Republican congressman and early Trump supporter praises white nationalism." When Ilhan Omar goes on a Jew-bashing tirade, the story is, "Republicans pounce on Omar's criticism of Israeli policy." They basically incorporate the Democratic narrative into the supposedly factual reporting of the story

"Republicans pounce ..." might be the most commonly used media phrase of 2019

Ilhan is a victim. That is the foundational truth everything else they report is based on.

Interesting that Omar chose to sidestep the Palestinian Authority crack down on an LBGTQ event.
She used a dodge we see here on WM. Instead of addressing Pali's homophobic stand she attacked Israel. Shocked I am.

“Pretending that this act somehow balances or mitigates Israel violating the dignity & rights of Palestinians - or undermines case for defending Palestinian rights - is deplorable!” Ms. Omar tweeted"

CNN has hired fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as a contributor, the network announced Friday morning.
McCabe was fired by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions on March 16th, 2018, less than two days before the veteran FBI official was slated to retire. According to the Department of Justice, “McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.

The firing was recommended by the FBI’s discipline office after the Justice Department’s inspector general investigation determined McCabe had authorized FBI officials to disclose sensitive information to the media regarding an investigation related to Hillary Clinton and subsequently lied investigators about his role in the matter.

78% also sounds about right for the number of voters who only look at political news that promotes their own agenda.

Which is probably more than the percent of voters who would want to objectively know about it and then treat it with the same standard.

The supply is being customized to the demand.

Just another example of someone in MSM running off the cliff in hysteria

Joy Reid hosted Jennifer Rubin on AM Joy MSNBC this morning
Joy: "declared that "this is an extreme administration that is dangerous" and claimed that Hispanic Americans should carry their birth certificates to avoid being "scooped up and stolen" by ICE."
Rubin:"It's not only that Trump has to lose, but that all his enablers have to lose -- we have to collectively, in essence, burn down the Republican party. We have to level them because if there are survivors -- if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again -- will take this as confirmation that, "Hey, it just pays to ride the wave -- look at me, I've made it through."

Deliberately frightening Hispanics is definitely vile.
Calling for burning Republicans up is just sick. Hey!! We are human too.

Levin believes the media is against POTUS. POTUS believes Levin. But 2/3 of Americans believe POTUS is a liar.

    Because of the media?

Right blame the media for reporting Trumps lies, dont blame Trump for lying. After all when he is lying he is only joking, talking off the cuff or stating alternative facts. Dont believe anything else in the world, dont believe your eyes, dont believe your ears only believe what Trump says and his followers state as fact.

OrngNugz, many of us believe Trump lies and also that the media lies about him. It isn't black hats vs white hats. It's a complicated mess. As for the media, they are guilty of their own lies. That is why many don't believe them.

If Trump is as bad as they say, then let his own words be the evidence. Don't misreport and cause people to distrust you.

Yep. Trump gives them enough to hang himself, but that's not good enough for them. If they were just honest and not insane, he'd be a sure loser in 2020. But instead, they set themselves on fire every five minutes, blow their credibility, and enable his reelection. They're really stupid.

    Mr D
If the media only reported facts and only reported what Trump said including the stupid stuff do you think he would not get reelected?
Things are better for so many people of so many different groups ,so many more good jobs are being created , wages are up , life close to many is better why wouldn't people want that to continue?
And if people looked at what he did getting other countries to pay more into NATO, getting better for us trade agreements with Mexico Canada etc
Trying to stop China's rape of us etc
If media reported these things dispassionately do you thiink the average voter would care more about stupid tweets than their better every day lives?

No, it would not be enough all by itself. The Democrats would also have to act sane.
