Sam Ansley (with a guy who will be mentioned tomorrow). Cy Fair HS. Filled in nicely during the 1977 title run, going 2-0 as a starter. You younger guys may not remember this but we went through a lot of quarterbacks that year. His torn jersey in the TCU game led to the legendary Ricky Churchman/Ham Jones instant touchdown play.
Randy McEachern J. Frank Dobie HS October 8, 1977 he turned a pretty bad day into one of my best. I read recently he almost didn’t make the traveling squad that day. Kids who are contemplating the transfer portal need to be told his story.
Quentin Jammer #6 CB Met him in Sugarland before. Nice guy. Here is his younger cousin, Quandre Diggs #6 CB I am pretty partial to Defensive Backs. What can I say?
I'm too young to remember Donnie Little, I was a kid then. But this guy was my favorite dual threat QB. He and Ricky brought us back to prominence and made me want to be a super fan again. It didn't end well for him in 97' but that was probably more about Mackovic than James Brown I am pretty sure of that. James Brown #5 QB
Tarrell Brown, Mesquite, TX...... ...... at the low point of most people’s evening (my low point was when I woke up about 1:30am after falling asleep in the first quarter). He broke his arm on this play; perceived at the time as the coup de grace in our natty hopes that evening. Things got better.
TEXAS vs. ou 1984... GAWD what a MISERABLE game that was to sit through and final outcome... 15-15 tie.
Yes. I debated whether to include that shameful part of my personal history. The alarm went off @ 4:30am those days and the rum shot I took after Aaron Ross’ fumble made dozing off a fait accompli. My wife knows to give me a wide berth during football season, so (not realizing I was asleep) she was no help either. The irony to all of this is when I saw the score on the crawler shortly after waking up, I was awake the rest of the night. I think the lesson plan for Tuesday, January 7 in my class was extended magazine time and videos (the kids were more than willing to give up the lesson on the Hawley-Smoot Tariff).
James Brown - "Are you guys still here? I thought you’d given up and gone home by now" First play of our second series against OU
