It doesn't effect tigers one way or the other. like you said he is playing against LSU. Who are the horns playing in CCG? Has the Big XII commish decided that yet?

After watching the game last night I remembered something Mr Bill posted about all those sacks LSU gave up last year. He did some research and posted something about LSU not facing an individual in top 50 (I think) sacks. Might be wrong on that number but it's immaterial. Pretty sure he said he checked SEC players only. No big deal.

As in most team sports it's not about the player it's about the team. LSU opened up with Miami last year. They had 40 sacks last year. Really couldn't tell you who led them sacks. Doesn't matter the TEAM had 40. Your opening game is LA Tech. Tigers played them last year. They had 2nd team AA DE. He's gone now pretty high draft choice, left as the NCAA CAREER LEADER in sacks with 45. The TEAM had 45 sacks on the season in '18. They know to get after the QB.
Heads up on Tech. They have a pretty good secondary. Robertson (CB) is the biggest playmaker on the team.

As for what LSU faced on the season in regards to sacks. Being tigers gave up 35 sacks that will be the benchmark. There were SIX SEC teams with OVER 35 sacks. Tigers played five of the six. When you add the two OOC teams to the five conference teams then LSU played SEVEN teams with OVER 35 sacks, over half the schedule. That's a lot of TEAMS with ability to get to QB.

Comparing that to what Texas faced in opponents ability to sack the QB it's not close. None of your OOC opponents hit the 30 sack total. Two of the three were under 20. In conference the Big XII had ONE team with over 35 sacks. I guess it's possible that low number of sacks in Big XII could be because of all those great Olines in conference. Possible but I doubt it.

Low number of sacks could also be due to a whole bunch of QBs who know how and when to get rid of the ball to avoid sacks. Could be a bunch of QBs (like Sam, as a hell of an example) who can at least get back to the LOS when pressured and forced to run rather than throw it away.

You may want to check into the fan hostility in Baton Rouge....( House divided ) Aggy relatives of mine were cussed out by a 12 year old girl ( they did nothing to provoke it ) , batteries, etc thrown at many Aggy fans, etc.....and this in a game where LSU kicked their ***. Can you imagine what happens when they are pissed they are losing ???? LMAO

The biggest contributing factor to low sack total is the number of teams in conference that run offenses that get rid of the ball within 3 seconds. Call the offenses what you want, but most teams in this league use short passes as their running game. QB in the shotgun gets rid of the ball to a receiver on a 5 yard route in about 2 or 3 seconds. Hard to put on a pass rush with quick passes.

Texas does a pretty job of getting pressure by using quick defensive players that over load the line.

Seems like a very good and reasonable reason. Answer this now. Why did the Big XII do so poorly OOC. In 36 OOC games the Big XII was only able to generate 74 sacks. That's right at two per game. Not much of a pass rush.

There were seven games in '18 Big XII vs SEC. In those seven games SEC gave up seven sacks. That's with those slow moving methodical offenses. Those QBs that drop back and survey the field for seconds on end. Yet only on avg one sack per game.

OK St was the only Big XII team that really got after the QB and put serious pressure game after game. Only Big XII team with over 35 sacks. Believe the finished the regular season with 39. They played Mizzou in bowl and finished their season with 39 sacks. That's right tore up the Big XII in sacks and zero vs the SEC.

On a totally unrelated matter. How those injured RBs doing? Be ready for this Saturday? Next? Any other injuries of note. Hope they all get better and are ready at kickoff.

Again thank you for having me. Really enjoying this.

I would feel the same way if heading into a BIG game all those stats were in favor of my opponent.

Sounds like LSU has some key injuries, just like we do
And suspensions, including a starter on their OL. But perhaps the suspension will be lifted in time?

Hearing the same rumors. Haven't heard any names yet. Haven't been online these last six hours or so though.

Unless something happened today, starting Oline is set. Same starters as spring game.
LT - Charles (JR) three year starter
LG - Magee (SR) started four games last year - five career starts
C - Cushenberry (JR) two year starter - all sec - started every game last year
RG - Lewis (SR) JUCO - all sec - started every game last year
RT - Deculeus (JR) two year starter

If I'm not mistaken that's the same starting Oline that started opening game VS Miami last year. Speaking of Miami. Saw where Miami "D" has caused turnovers in 26 of their last 27 games. Only team that didn't give ball away VS the hurricanes was you guessed it, LSU.

Reports are that everyone is expected to be ready to play this weekend except for 2 true freshman OL. So health wise, LSU is in pretty good shape. All of the expected starters and primary reserves on the OL practiced today.

You have a name for that Olineman. Checked on a couple of LSU sites. No mention of specific players suspended.

LSU changed its drug suspension policy last summer
It sounds like a second or third marijuana test failure might be taken out of the hands of the athletic administration. This is what it sounds like may be happening here.
However, reading as much as I want to on this, it looks like there is too much wiggle room for any of this to be taken too seriously. So, I wouldn't expect any of them to actually be suspended for our game. It is the SEC after all. But, as always, we will see.

Someone mentioned us meeting up before the game. We will be at Bevo Blvd around 4:30 PM on the 7th. Maybe sooner. PM me, I am not sure who mentioned this it was a few weeks ago. I know I'll be hitting the Beer vender & food trucks around then.

Thanks, that is a definite possibility, unlike the unmitigated and unquestioned thrashing the Hell S and U Fighting Tigers will level on poor Georgia Southern.

I'm gonna do my Sunday morning QB thing here and point out that Georgia Southern is a triple option team, which is a headache to play and who also shortens the game by rarely passing and by using the full play clock between snaps. They averaged only 59 plays a game last year so LSU probably won't get a lot of possessions to score. Clemson beat them 38-7 last year.
