LOL. Every year, "We're being too physical during practice, guys are getting hurt!" Then, after the first missed tackle of the season, "We're not physical enough during practice!"

I wonder now if any of those RBs that got inpatient and transferred out wish they could get back in??

    Edit:

I could be wrong - maybe Herman didnt give them much choice...maybe other factors. I'm old school...work hard, stick it out, good things happen. I had the impression a couple of our running backs like Porter, Houston, Toneil Carter...maybe...didn't want to stick it out for a chance. If it was an option, and they had done this...they'd have that chance now perhaps.

Terrible Miami offensive line is the only real story in this game tonight. Looked like the Texas offensive line in Ehlinger's first year. We have come so far since that year. Thank heavens for coach Hand.

No such thing as too physical....You can be too careless and reckless in your drills and scrimmages....You can be physical without being nuts about it. Couple of examples : Never allow a chase tackles in practice ( those where you run the guy down and wrap him up around the ankles causing ankle injuries ) Don't alligator tackle on players ( always use dummies )...Prevents twisted ankles and knees.....Never allow cut blocks ( prevent knee injuries etc ). Have early whistles to prevent injuries caused by piling on etc. Play to thud against RBs, and NEVER let QBs get hit in scrimmages. Those are just a few simple preventative measures. You can still play hard and physical.

That game was nuts. It was hard to keep up with it all. But a good reminder of how much fun CFB can be.

And, yeah, thanks goodness our OL is finally becoming a position of strength again. The was a great source of futility for me for a long time. Such a relief. We are actually redshirting talented OLs again. Seems like its been forever since we did that.

Kobe Boyce won the job and will start opposite Jalen Green.
Although perhaps worth noting Cook is suspended for a half anyway

Gatorade national POY. Freakishly quick and fast. Good field vision. Good cuts and acceleration. Home run hitter. A threat to take it to the house on every touch.

It’s sort of like having another Eric Metcalf.

I’m not sure about Jake’s ultimate position but for now just get him on the field. Especially on returns.

Porter was afforded every compliment by Herman for his effort and perseverance. Porter just wanted to play on the field more often. If he is not enrolled or signed, he could walk on.

And Duvernay are the two fastest guys along with Owens.

Duvernay and Smith on kick offs is going to be rockets away if the kicks are not deep into the end zone.

Amazing how those sub-par players from that abbreviated 2017 class keep showing up .... Boyce, Josh Thompson, Cosmi, Graham, Leitao, Young, Brewer and some guy named Ehlinger. Gary Johnson was a joy to watch.

Just finished watching from another link. Some good nuggets. He praised the Punter again ... very good news. Found it interesting that he called Dabo Sweeney for some advice on how to handle week one classes and scheduling during game week -- I like that he has access to Coach Sweeney

Glad he reached out to someone if he felt information was needed. However, comparing Sons of Clem classes and scheduling to Texas' is strange.

    Thanks LH
I don't want to criticize anyone unfairly...really wasnt trying to be too hard on any of them not knowing all facts....just wondering out loud if a few of those guys wouldn't like a do-over.
    Appreciate the perspective...

Understand completely. Carter had some real flashes but practice effort and ball control seemed to be his downfall. Just a shame. Houston I do not recall seeing very much if at all.

Count me as impressed, and pleasantly surprised, with Kobe Boyce's progress. He played as a Freshman last year--and by that, I also mean he played like a Freshman last year (as one should naturally expect). It's a rare find indeed for a Freshman CB to play like a Jr. or a Sr.

We've seen young CBs thrust into action as Freshman before who performed like Freshman (surprise, surprise). But some of them later grew into stars. Think Grady Cavness, Willie Mack Garza, probably others. I'm hoping Boyce fits into that group and that he has grown up fast under our coaches' tutelage since last year.

So Braun may get the redshirt after all, unless he jumps Junior Angilau in the "or" category. Still up in the air with Braun I suppose?

I'm having a hard time believing Braun (returning 1st team all conference ACC) couldn't beat out anyone not named Cosmi on the OL, but perhaps I overestimated his ability to pick up our pass blocking schemes. Or maybe he's really wanting to redshirt. Maybe we see him against LSU but not LaTech. Or I could be reading way too much into this...
    :idk:

Ojomo and true Freshman Sweat running as #2s! (with an "or" for Sweat) For Ojomo, it may or may not be due to Wilbon's hopefully minor injury.

Hopefully, there will be few kick returns and many punt returns. Hang on to the ball freshman.

Burt as the starting ZWR was a surprise. I have not heard his name mentioned even once during the fall camp.

Another player I don’t think I heard mentioned was Ojomo, Coburn’s backup at NT.

Braun is for sure among the six best OL. I can't imagine him redshirting, based on the Tom Herman press conference. If Okafor falters or Shack gets dinged, Kerstetter will move to RT or C and Braun will start.

Actually it makes a lot of sense to redshirt him. One, he wants to cross train as a center. two, he can play in all the important games and still redshirt. Three, having him come back as the starting center next year would really solidify our online next year for a real playoff run. If he is going to redshirt, you will know based on if he plays against La Tech.
