I thought Mr. Gatti's was the best pizza in town. Honest. Actually, it is Saccone's but according to their website the Austin location closed because of a fire. I don't make it over there very often so that, of course, is very sad news.
1.) Saccones 2.) Homeslice These places are allsome. I do have to say though Homeslice can be inconsistent, but still better than anything in my city right now (SA) .
Mangia and Rounders wouldn't make my top 10, and I think pizza in this town sucks. I'd go 1. Saccone's 2. Reale's 3. Al John's 4. Roppolo's 5. Nick's Great Pizza 6. Home Slice 7. Brick Oven I haven't been to Mellow Mushroom or the new place on South Congress near Oltorf.
The Onion use pre made crust, it sucks. Homeslice is ok, but they are a little to full of themselves with the hipster deal, it is ******* pizza, not a lifestyle. I like Southside as well, plus they are BYOB.
If nobody has heard of It's Italian in North Austin close to Wells Branch, I strongly recommend going there. Their pizza is now my favorite. The whole place is badass. Small place in a shopping center. The Link
No love for Austin's Pizza? I like their specialty ones, namely the Greenbelt and Pesto a go-goat. yummmmm
Anyone tried Salvation? I've heard that they're the best in Austin from some New York pizza cultists, but haven't eaten it yet. Also, Vespaio/Enoteca's pizzas are pretty damn good.
